March gaming revenue down in Carson City area, Lake Tahoe and statewide

Carson City and Carson Valley area casinos saw its March gaming related revenue dip by 4.27 percent when compared to March 2022 figures, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board's monthly report.

Prescribed fire operations continue this week at Lake Tahoe

The Tahoe Fire & Fuels Team will continue prescribed fire operations this week at Lake Tahoe. Conditions and weather permitting, Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District and the USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit are scheduled to burn piles along the East Shore beginning Monday, April 24, 2023.

Carson City School District is pleased to announce Lucas Valdez, 14-year-old eighth grader at Eagle Valley Middle School, as a winner of GreenUP!’s Golden Pinecone Sustainability Youth Leadership Award. He was given the award in Reno April 13, 2023.
Carson City sheriff's deputies make weekend arrests for DUIs, warrants

A 26-year-old man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of second DUI and basic speeding, both misdemeanor offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Miss Carson City Brianna Cross to represent the county at the Miss Nevada competition

Brianna Cross will go on to represent Carson City in the competition for Miss Nevada. She is working to promote her Community Service Initiative Project: Raise the B.A.R.R. Obtaining better resources for recovery.
Two dead in Carson City crash late Sunday night, three injured

UPDATE 6 a.m.: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong tells KOLO that the incident involved a vehicle pursuit in which suspects in the vehicle that caused the crash had stolen merchandise from a south Carson Street clothing store. The two killed in the crash were passengers in the suspect vehicle. A third passenger and the driver were taken to Renown. The driver of the victim vehicle was also taken to Renown. Their condition is unknown.

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol were called Sunday night to a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of East William and North Saliman.
