Carson City leaders agree to first reading to outlaw cannabis lounges, consumption in public

The second and final reading of the proposed ordinance will happen August 5.

Spooner Lake temporarily closed for construction of a new visitor center and amphitheater
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 07/15/2021 - 2:34pmLAKE TAHOE, Nev. — Construction is underway to build a new Visitor Center and Amphitheater at Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park, Spooner Lake. A temporary park closure is necessary to protect the safety of park visitors due to the presence of open trenches and heavy equipment operations. The main entrance, parking areas and frontcountry will be closed to public access beginning on July 19, 2021 and are anticipated to re-open in early September, 2021.

Renaming Old Dayton Valley Road 'Pres. Trump Way' fails by 3-2 vote, ballot option proposed
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Thu, 07/15/2021 - 1:24pmOn Thursday at the Board of County Commissioners meeting in Lyon County, the board again discussed the proposed road change of Old Dayton Valley Road to “Pres. Trump Way.”
The proposal, which would have begun the application process, failed by a 3-2 vote, and Commissioner Ken Gray stated he would be bringing another proposal to convert the item to a ballot question.
Carson City arrests: Driver booked for suspected third DUI
