CONVERSATIONS with LAND and SKY
An exhibition of works by Charles Muench inspired by the Eastern Sierra of California and High Desert of Nevada
JUNE 3RD-4TH, 2016
At the historic ballroom in the Brewery Arts Center
Reception June 3rd 4:00-8:00pm; June 4th 11:00am-5:00pm
Painting is my passion and both the grandeur of the Eastern Sierra and the stark and open spaces of Nevada high desert inspire my work. My paintings are created by a dialog with the landscape. I cannot help but hear the colors of the high desert in the mid-summer sun, smell the grandeur of the Sierra peaks rising above the alpine sage in an autumn twilight, and touch the expanse of the vast open spaces of Nevada on a cold, winter evening. The sound rusted machinery settling into the land, the quaking of aspen leaves across the vast expanses of the Jarbridge wilderness, the creaking relics of western ghost towns-these sensations fuel my passion
