Happy Saturday Carson City! It’s caucus day, are you ready to vote if you are so inclined? Here are some events to do after/instead throughout the Carson City region!

Combining her passion for the Sierra Nevada wilderness and her love of painting, art instructor and professional watercolorist, Dana Childs is hosting a series of Plein Aire Painting Outings & Hikes.

Heading into the weekend, there’s an abundance of activities around the capital city region over the next three days. The Brewery Arts Center hosts a female version of "The Odd Couple." Carson City's Greenhouse Project is hosting a lunch and dinner fundraiser toward a healthier State Capitol. Dale Poune will perform at Bella Vita Bistro, plus comedy at the Carson Nugget, the Nevada Caucus on Saturday, an open house at the historic Foreman-Roberts House, a Latin-themed concert at the community center and more. CARSON CITY — On the heels of an incredibly successful 2019 season and due to popular demand, V&T Railway has begun early ticket sale booking for the 2020 season. As with prior seasons, the 2020 season will include vintage steam train rides from Carson City to Virginia City, Toast of the Canyon wine and beer trains and the popular Polar Express in addition to other themed and special event trains.

For those returning from the three-day holiday weekend, Tuesday is shaping up to be a great day around the capital city. Muscle Powered will host morning and evening walks; it is the final day of early voting for the Nevada caucus, plus there's the Nevada Artists Association Judged Winter Show at its gallery in the Brewery Arts Center, classes at Yaple's Ballroom, meetings and more.

Come celebrate Mardi Gras Weekend at Rue Bourbon. Did you know that “Rue Bourbon” is French for “Bourbon Street?” So why would you go anywhere else to celebrate Mardi Gras!?!

CARSON CITY — A new museum as well as recreation, entertainment and dining opportunities will bloom this spring in Nevada. From the opening of the Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum in Carson City to the debut of new restaurants in Las Vegas, Nevada delivers uncommon experiences this season.

Ever spend some time watching high school students having fun? They do it so naturally. There is no lack of excitement happening at Carson High School, and one of the more amazing aspects of this high school is everyone is invited to attend every event.

The first ever early voting in Carson City welcomed huge crowds Saturday as Democrats went to cast their ballots for this years presidential nominee.

Hello fellow anglers! We now have another area to go fishing in our area.

The Mason Valley Wildlife Refuse is now open for fishing for the season. The Wildlife area is located just north of Yerington NV.

This past weekend, Youth Theatre Carson City’s Showstoppers show choir traveled to Southern California to compete in the Musical Theatre Competitions of America 2020, a national competition with 35 teams representing 19 states and 3 countries, and brought home two major awards: 2nd place Advanced/Open Musical Revue and 3rd place Advanced/Open Ensemble Performance.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities over the next three days. Restaurants in Carson City will host Valentine’s Day specials on Friday. The Carson City Celtic Music series will be at the Brewery Arts Center on Saturday featuring Fortunate Strangers. Combined with live music and comedy at the Carson Nugget, the Carson City region is in store for a busy three days. Read on for more information.

Beginning over the last weekend, Carson City residents began receiving letters letting them know that their data and financial information may have been compromised following a data breach involving water bill online payments.

Students from Wild Horse Children's Theater in Carson City won a Freddie G Excellence in Music national theater award and earned recognition at the 2020 Junior Theater Festival West, which happened Feb. 7-9, 2020 at Wells Fargo Pavilion.

Starting this weekend, Nevada's Democrats will have an opportunity to cast early votes for up to five candidates, in preference order, who are still in the running for delegates to the county, state and national conventions that will select the Democratic nominee for November's presidential election.

Capitol FFA traveled to North Valleys High School Feb. 1 in order to compete in the Northern FFA Zone Competition. CHS Agriculture Mechanics, Welding, and FFA Adviser and teacher Rebecca Glocknitzer said, "I know all of our students worked hard to prepare for Zone, and Mr. Mann and I are so proud of their efforts."

Happy Saturday Carson City! It’s going to be another beautiful day in the capital city, so make sure the get your sunshine while you can!

We’ve got a bunch of great events in the region through the weekend, so check below!

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Dozens of sweets are in store for Saturday. The American Association of University Women holds its 20th annual Feast of Chocolate at the Carson Plaza and Event Center. Artsy Fartsy Gallery hosts its 9th annual Jewelry and Chocolate Show with several new decorative pieces. To cap-off Saturday, the legendary Cab Calloway Orchestra makes its way to the capital city.

Nothing adds to the history of a time, an event, a place or an object more than becoming a part of that history and the Nevada State Museum in Carson City is making sure the history of the Carson City Mint will continue for generations to come.

As part of its celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Carson City Mint — Mint 150 — the museum is hosting Kids Minting Days on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 8-9. Children 17 and younger are admitted for free and each child will receive a commemorative copper medallion memorializing the Mint’s 150th anniversary.

The CHS, NJROTC Orienteers competed in a weekend long orienteering festival in Anza Borrego State Park, Calif., Jan. 17-18. During the festival, team members competed in three different races over the two days.

Happy Saturday Carson City, and say hello to February! That means Spring must be right around the corner! I hope so at least, because Friday’s beautiful weather was enough to make me ready to say goodbye to father winter.

Saturday, February 1

Heading into the Super Bowl weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the monthly downtown Carson City wine walk, plus karaoke at Bella Vita Bistro and Y-NOT Saloon. The Forest Service begins its first “Ski With a Ranger” at Lake Tahoe’s Heavenly Mountain Resort on Friday. Combined with championship football festivities on Sunday, the Silver State is in store for a wild, good time.

Heading into the weekend it sure will seem like spring around the Carson City region and even up at Lake Tahoe, with ample sunshine and near record high temperatures. By Sunday though, that will change as a strong cold front brings much colder and windier conditions with a possible quick round of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

With some clouds, sunshine and a weekend warmup ahead, going into the last Thursday of January brings a cardio and strength connection class offered through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, library activities, Pilates at the Brewery Arts Center, a South Carson Street pre-construction meeting at the Carson City Community Center that will be streamed live by going here. Plus Swing dancing at Sassafras. Read on for more.

Benjamin Franklin, one of the best gamers of all time said, “We do not stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.” The adults sure could learn a thing or two from the students at CHS because Winterfest 2020 played out, pun intended, just like it was supposed to with Carson's Got Game being the theme.
