Investigation continues into Highway 50 chase, double homicide at Washoe Valley home
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sat, 06/14/2014 - 6:35pmWashoe County Sheriff’s Office detectives continue to investigate Friday's double homicide in Washoe Valley and the multi-county vehicle chase on Highway 50 that began in Carson City and ended in a shootout with officers in Sand Mountain Recreation Area in Churchill County. Two women were found dead inside a Washoe Valley home. One man was injured by the shooter.
Washoe Lake State Park hosts Summer Solstice astronomy party

The Summer Solstice Astronomy Party runs from from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. or later at the Maze/Playground (Overflow) parking area inside Washoe Lake State Park.

As federal parks remain dim, Nevada State Parks stay open

"Autumn is awesome in Nevada's state parks for viewing fall colors, fishing, camping or setting up a hunting base camp," says Deputy Administrator Eric Johnson.

Astronomy experts Adam Kremers and Jay Lawson will lead participants in an evening of star and planet gazing through high powered telescopes. A light jacket is recommended as late summer evenings can be cool.
