What Works: Expectations are pre-meditated resentments
Submitted by editor on Mon, 10/06/2014 - 10:57amI think I just felt a hundred hearts skip a beat. “Diane, you are off your rocker. Aren’t you a business coach? Don’t you measure success based on EXPECTED outcomes?” Yes. The word OUTCOMES (plural) means there is more than one scenario to the situation and any one of them could come about. By not having expectations or at least not being emotionally tied to ONE outcome, I open myself up to the plural form. I try not to emotionally tie myself to “this is how it’s going to turn out.” Why? It’s limiting.

A first-time Musk Ox hunt in the High Arctic
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 08/27/2014 - 10:27pmAbout 5 miles away on the distant horizon, we could see black dots on the amazingly pure white, snow-covered, barren ground, 130 miles east of Tuktoyaktuk (Tuk), Northwest Territories, Canada.
Our guide Chuck Gruben of Tuk said there they are, let's get going.
This hunt was to be my first-ever musk ox hunt, my second-ever guided hunt.
It was something that I wanted to do for a long time.
I was sitting home one night and thought what the heck, I should go.
My wife agreed, so the necessary arrangements went into high gear.
What Works: Does your organization need therapy?
Submitted by editor on Mon, 08/18/2014 - 11:17amThe environment you are surrounded by at work can lift you up, propel you forward, pull you down, or trigger feelings of being stuck. In some organizational cultures, a cycle perpetuates itself that is very similar to abuse. What do you do if your organization is stuck in such a cycle? You get therapy.
As a leader, there are a few ways you can do this without pulling in an outside facilitator. Although, if things have gotten to the point where the needle can’t move with internal efforts alone, a facilitator may be necessary.
