Event Date:
May 25, 2012 (All day)

On Friday there is a unique way to remember and honor area veterans this Memorial Day weekend. The Carson Nugget is sponsoring a Bingo event on Friday, May 25 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Sierra Room.

The profits from the event will be donated to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Carson Area Chapter 388. The group is hoping to raise $10,000 to bring the Traveling Vietnam Wall tribute to Mills Park for the inaugural celebration of “Battle Born Days” in Carson City in October.

The Current Republican Leadership, the Catholic Church, Religious Conservatives and the Perils of Self-Refuting Logic

In the United States a political party does not become the majority party in this country by becoming ideologically pure. They become the majority by becoming larger, inclusive, and superior to their political opponents not only in size, but should also be anchored in and unafraid of intellectual and discursive dialogue, devoid of reactionary emotionalism. Then and only then, can conservatism present and extend to the electorate our concepts in such a way that we will be accepted by the majority of our fellow citizens.

Veterans Donate to Carson City Library

Representatives from the Vietnam Veterans of America, Carson City Sea Cadets and U.S. Navy League gathered at the Carson City Library Friday to donate a Bluejackets Manual and a 1942-1943 USS Nevada Cruise Book. Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell and Library Director Sara Jones were on hand for the event.
