CARSON CITY — Comedy thru the Ages, the 2020 production of the Carson Follies, is seeking actors, dancers, singers and stage personnel for its upcoming show July 10-12. Auditions will be held Thursday, March 5, and Tuesday, March 10, from 6-8 p.m. at the Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive in Carson City.

The Nevada Talk Network brings a huge Christmas Wish to the state beginning at noon Christmas Eve until 8 p.m. Christmas night.

Carson Valley Community Theatre will be holding auditions for two new productions, Putnam County Spelling Bee and "Nunsense II," on Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. and Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. Mark your calendars and come to The Annex, 1572 Hwy 395 in Minden to audition for one, or both, productions.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events and activities around the Carson City region to help the next three days breeze by. On Friday, Muscle Powered will host a morning walk at the Carson City Multi-Use Path at 8 a.m. And there's coin press demonstrations at the Nevada State Museum.

Tickets for Under the Big Top, the 2019 circus-themed, multi-generational production of the Senior Follies are now available for show dates July 12-14.

Pin-ups On Tour’s Nationally Touring Production is set to perform in the area thanks to a partnership with Local Venue. Get dolled up and join these gals for a Vintage Burlesque & Variety Show that supports hospitalized Veterans. The group works to recreate the bawdy fun of vaudevillian theaters so popular across America during and post-WWII.

Donny and Marie Osmond were in Tahoe onstage at Harveys Outdoor Arena on Friday, displaying their wide range of musical styles. The siblings started performing at an early age. Donny first entered the public eye when he joined his older brothers’ singing group,”The Osmonds,” and appeared regularly on “The Andy Williams Show.” Donny and Marie both recorded solo albums before joining forces to star on the 1970s TV variety show “Donny & Marie.”

Summer fun is heating up! Let the kids burn off some energy at the Kids Triathlon at Mills Park. You’ll find all the colors of the rainbow, plus great music and fun times, at the Festival of Unity and Community: Sassabration. Get your grub on at the annual Nevada Honor Flight Chili Cook-off at Glen Eagles, and make sure to check out the craft vendors. SATURDAY:

Buffalo Bill’s Wild West returns to Dangberg Historic Park on Saturday, August 26 at 11:00 am as the park’s final major event of the 2017 Dangberg Summer Festival.

The show features Buffalo Bill Cody, Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, Annie Oakley, the Pony Express, The Mayfield Gang and the 1st Nevada Cavalry. The Douglas High School Marching Band and western singer-songwriter Krista Jenkins return for a second year to draw the audience back in time to the frontier of the American West.

I hope your dancing shoes are handy because the music will have you on your feet. Local favorites, Jelly Bread, take the stage at McFadden Plaza as part of the Fridays at the Fox series. Start the weekend with some belly laughs: either with Kevin Farley at the Brewery Arts Center or with Mrs. John Hughes at the Carson Nugget. Break a leg to our talented friends and neighbors participating in this year’s Senior Follies. ‘As Seen On TV’ marks the twentieth year the variety show has showcase local talent.

FRIDAY:

Under the direction of Richard Doede, the Capital City Community Band will perform its free annual holiday and patriotic concert with a “Salute to Bob Hope,” on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 3:00 p.m., inside the Carson City Community Center's Bob Boldrick Theater, 851 E. William Street.

With "flashbacks" as the theme, this will be the 18th production of the follies, which began as a fundraiser for the Carson City senior meal programs. The event will be held July 10-12.

If you are looking for some family fun to do that will also support the senior citizens of Carson City then you want to attend this year’s Senior Follies production titled “Flashbacks!” Ticket prices for this 2 hour musical comedy variety show are only $10.00 per person for ages 5 and up. All proceeds from ticket sales go to the Carson City Senior Meal Programs.

She is not a professional photographer, does not have professional photo training or professional equipment, but does possess a great natural talent for framing her photo subjects with the proper backgrounds.

Between the two of us, we have a total of three "Point and Shoot" cameras: An old Pentax Optio 750Z (The one I use), a Cannon Power Shot Sx280 HS (her favorite) and a Sony HD VCHD (her backup camera).

The Carson City Senior Citizens Center will be holding open auditions for the 16th Annual Senior Follies production on Wednesday, March 27th from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center Main Dining Room, 911 Beverly Dr., Carson City. Performance dates are Sept. 13, 14 and 15 at the Carson City Community Center’s Bob Boldrick Theater. This year’s theme is “Around the World in 80 Minutes” and is directed by Carla Wilson.

The Carson City Senior Citizens Center will be holding open auditions for the 2012 Senior Follies production of “Those Delightful Decades.” This production will be co-directed by Norma Conway and Carla Wilson.

This annual production is a fundraiser for the senior meals programs here in Carson City. If you are age 35 or older and would like to be a part of this wonderful fundraising project we would love to have you share your talents with us. It is a variety show consisting of musical and comedy acts ranging from the 1920’s through today.
