For the eighth year, Carson City Pediatric Dentistry is offering its candy buy-back program for children who bring in their Halloween candy in exchange for cash.

Come see the results of all the hard work our local filmmakers put into making their short horror films at the Carson Creepy Short Horror Film Competition screening on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 6:30 p.m. in the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King St., in Carson City.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City hosted its Safe Halloween Celebration on Sunday, October 28. There was trick or treating as well as spooky Halloween crafts for kids and their parents.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church in downtown Carson City at the corner of Telegraph and Division streets offers its annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Carson City Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit asked Facebook followers who or what K-9 Officer Tarzan should be for Halloween this year. Staff tallied up the suggestions and the results are in.

Buffalo Bill’s Wild West returns to Dangberg Historic Park for a third year on Saturday, August 25 with festivities beginning at 2 p.m. This is the park’s final special event of the 2018 Dangberg Summer Festival, focused on raising funds to support the operation and future of the park.

After mercury was found in pet food in a 2016 research project at the University of Nevada, Reno, a new team is taking a closer look to quantify the concentration level of methylmercury, the toxic mercury compound that can have negative health impacts. Preliminary analyses of a few dog food samples showed methylmercury to be a significant percentage of the total mercury.

Independence Day isn’t until Wednesday, but the red, white, and blue celebration starts now. SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. – Celebrate Independence Day a few days early on Sunday, July 1 with traditional games, homemade toys and crafts, sweet treats from the 1800s and live music performed by the Reno Schnitzels Oompah Band.

I recently cleaned out old files on my computer, coming across one I hadn't seen in six years.

It was the eulogy I wrote for and delivered at my father's funeral on June 30, 2012.

Reading through it for the first time in six years stirred up a lot of memories, some painful but mostly fond.

Carson City Symphony's 34th annual Pops Party concert will be held at the Capital Amphitheater, between the Capitol and Legislature Buildings on Sunday, June 10, at 6 p.m. The program features the Carson City Symphony, Carson City Symphony Chorus, and guest singer Cherie Shipley. Admission is free.
