Toys for Tots 2017 Carson City hotline opens Nov. 27

If you are in need of toys, the hotlines begin Nov. 27 at 9 a.m. and run through Dec. 22, 2017.
An Old-Fashioned Holiday Open House at Dangberg Historic Park

The exhibit includes toys from the 1870s through the 1890s that were played with by Fred Dangberg, Jr., and his siblings, as well as numerous toys enjoyed by Fred’s five children and one grandson from the 1900s through the 1940s.
Tiffani’s 5th annual Sealed Toy Drive begins with 17 drop off locations around Carson City

The "sealed" toy drive allows hospitalized children who have to stay in their room, or are unable to play with used toys, a chance to receive a small gift basket of toys and games to play with over the holidays.

Get ready for Halloween with your choice of pumpkin patches. Seeliger Elementary School is hosting theirs for the twenty-fifth year in a row. Take a trip on the V and T Steam Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum, actually take several trips. The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. So many more fun activities are available to you, you’ll have to read on to see them all.

Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show set for April 28-29

Space is being increased to allow more vendors from the region to participate in the only event of its type on the South Shore. A free children's planting area is also being added to the two day show that runs from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m on Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m on Saturday.
Silver City Post Office Hosts Display on Resident Artist Program

We had set out our decoys and had a good early morning hunt, however, it started raining so we packed everything up, leaving the bags of decoys in a dry irrigation ditch.

Senator Square: Carson High senior projects are more than a graduation requirement
Submitted by editor on Sat, 12/24/2016 - 8:31pmRaynna Jackson began helping with Toys for Tots at the Ron Wood center before Thanksgiving in order to fulfill her CHS Senior Project graduation requirement; she decided to help give underprivileged children a Merry Christmas.
She started by putting boxes at CHS and her mother’s place of employment, Natel Company. Toys for Tots serves more than 2,000 Carson City area kids every Christmas, and Raynna took this personally; she wanted to help bring in even more gifts. Raynna ultimately facilitated the gathering of 2 large boxes of toys.

Hundreds of homeless children and their families braved the wet conditions for a chance to see Santa Claus arrive by fire engine and to go shopping with their community hero.

The food was plentiful and enjoyed by everyone, along with fabulous yummy desserts prepared by Brenda Horton, President of the Ladies Auxiliary. A big thank you to Larry Knack and Rick Athenour for arranging the event.
Wonderful raffle prizes were donated by local stores, including a $100 Walmart gift card. Thank you to Sue Higgins for securing the raffle prizes and displaying them so nicely.
Toys for Tots Drop Off at Carson City Farmers Insurance
