1933 – 2018
Albert, aka Al, Scotty and Steve, by family and friends, passed away May 8, 2018. He was born April 23, 1933 to Scott and Vernie Stevens. He married Denise Cassel on March 31, 1956 in St. Mihiel, France. Al served in the Air Force as a Military Police Officer and retired from Southwest Gas Corporation after 29 years of service. Al set the example as a father, grandfather, dedicated husband and friend to everyone he met. Al really loved life and he will be missed.

Possible gas leak in neighborhood prompts brief Fremont Elementary evacuation
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 02/27/2018 - 9:22amUPDATE 9:12AM: Surrounding areas near Fremont where there were reports of a strong gas odor have been given the "all clear," according to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief. The unidentified odor was neither propane or natural gas.

UPDATE 8:31AM: Southwest Gas has given the "all clear" at Fremont Elementary where there was a report of a possible gas leak. No leaks were found. Students who were bused to Carson Middle School will be returning to Fremont, said Dan Davis, spokesman for Carson City School District.

More than 20 reports of possible gas leaks have been made Tuesday morning around Carson City, including a strong odor at Fremont Elementary School where there has been an evacuation of students.

Carson City Senior Center makes Christmas delivery for hundreds of homebound seniors

The Carson City Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels program delivers almost 300 meals to homebound seniors daily. In the past year, the Center has provided over 79,500 hot meals.

This event will be held on Wednesday, October 25 from 4-6 PM at the Community Center, Library, and Aquatic Facility. BOO-NANZA is a free, safe, and spooky environment for children to participate in Halloween fun. The first 100 participants will receive a bag to use for trick or treating.
