Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called late Friday morning to the area of 5th and Stewart streets for a report of a natural gas leak.

Road work on Curry and Musser streets in downtown Carson City was temporarily delayed Wednesday morning after a crew accidentally severed a 1/2-inch gas line.

Carson City Fire Department was called Monday morning to a gas line break in the 4700 block of Fox Creek Road in north Carson City.

1933 – 2018

Albert, aka Al, Scotty and Steve, by family and friends, passed away May 8, 2018. He was born April 23, 1933 to Scott and Vernie Stevens. He married Denise Cassel on March 31, 1956 in St. Mihiel, France. Al served in the Air Force as a Military Police Officer and retired from Southwest Gas Corporation after 29 years of service. Al set the example as a father, grandfather, dedicated husband and friend to everyone he met. Al really loved life and he will be missed.

This Wednesday, join our students and community. Come out and enjoy a night of hands-on fun. Make a paper airplane, a gumdrop and toothpick bridge, build with LEGOS and use robotic arms.

UPDATE 9:12AM: Surrounding areas near Fremont where there were reports of a strong gas odor have been given the "all clear," according to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief. The unidentified odor was neither propane or natural gas.

UPDATE 8:31AM: Southwest Gas has given the "all clear" at Fremont Elementary where there was a report of a possible gas leak. No leaks were found. Students who were bused to Carson Middle School will be returning to Fremont, said Dan Davis, spokesman for Carson City School District.

More than 20 reports of possible gas leaks have been made Tuesday morning around Carson City, including a strong odor at Fremont Elementary School where there has been an evacuation of students.

The Carson City Fire Department was called Thursday afternoon to a gas leak in the 900 block of West Winnie Lane. According to dispatch, a construction crew severed a gas line near a home while doing work.

NV Energy announced Thursday its intention to lower customer rates by nearly $84 million as a result of the federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.

UPDATE 7:58PM: Firefighters have knocked down the fire at a College Parkway apartment complex. Additional resources have been scaled back. No injuries have been reported.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Saturday night to a structure fire in an apartment building in the 2000 block of College Parkway.

The Carson City Chamber Leadership Institute class of 2018 is reaching out to Carson City community members and businesses to sponsor the lobby renovation of the Carson City Senior Center.

Please join us on March 17, 10 a.m. for the eighth annual Carson High Safe Grad Safe & Sober 5K Run/Walk. This event is organized by volunteers of the Carson High Safe Grad Booster and will be held, once again, at the CHS Track/Field.

The Carson City Senior Center collected more than 550 gifts from area residents and businesses for homebound seniors this year. The Carson City Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels program delivers almost 300 meals to homebound seniors daily. In the past year, the Center has provided over 79,500 hot meals.

The 29th Carson City Chamber Leadership Institute Class of 2018 is off and running and will be learning about our city for the next 8 months.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Monday afternoon to investigate a gas leak in the 400 block of Allouette Way.

Carson City Library, Carson City Parks and Recreation Department, and Southwest Gas are teaming up to host a BOO-NANZA with trick or treating, STEAM activities, a costume contest, spooky decorations, and a movie!

This event will be held on Wednesday, October 25 from 4-6 PM at the Community Center, Library, and Aquatic Facility. BOO-NANZA is a free, safe, and spooky environment for children to participate in Halloween fun. The first 100 participants will receive a bag to use for trick or treating.

UPDATE: Carson City Fire Department reports the gas leak has been clamped. Motorists on Crain are being directed while crews do the repair.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called late Wednesday morning to the 700 block of Crain Street for a gas leak.

UPDATE 11:15: The gas line has been capped. Southwest Gas is responding. Motorists are able to resume driving through the area.

Carson City Fire Department was called late Thursday morning to a gas leak on Woodridge Circle in northwest Carson City.

Carson City Fire Department was called Sunday morning to a gas leak in the 200 block of Lisa Way in north Carson City.

Western Nevada College’s Welding Technology program recently received a donation that will help welding students become more versed and marketable in the future.

UPDATE: The gas leak was capped at 8:44 a..m. Southwest Gas is on scene.

UPDATE 11:07AM: The gas leak at a residence caused by a landscaping crew has been clamped and secured. The incident has been turned over to Southwest Gas.
