The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division is asking for the public's assistance in locating a suspect in a child abduction that happened Monday morning.

Carson City Sheriff's Office investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying two people suspected of stealing merchandise from a store in the 1400 block of South Carson Street.

A group of protesters, some dressed in military fatigues and open-carrying guns, gathered outside the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City on Saturday to call on Gov. Steve Sisolak to open all businesses.

Effective Monday, May 4, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office will return to normal work status in the operations of records and administration services, according to a news release Thursday from Sheriff Frank Hunewill.

Earlier today Indian Hill Families were brought out of their homes to the sound of horns and sirens. A hiker discovered a dead body Tuesday evening in the hills near Jack Wright Pass, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Traditionally a Badge Pinning and Promotional Ceremony is conducted in a crowded room, filled with families, friends, and Sheriff’s Office staff, where everyone is given the opportunity to show support.

UPDATE: According to Animal Control Officer Stephanie Baeta, the dog is safely in custody at the Carson City Humane Society.

What was relayed to Officer Baeta by the shepherds is that the dog attacked the sheep, and the presumed owner of the dog attempted to pull the dog away, at which point the dog attempted to bite the owner, so the owner abandoned the dog on the scene. The shepherds were left to contain the dog, and animal control arrived on scene shortly after.

The dog, who Officer Baeta reports has been very gentle and sweet with animal control staff, is in a ten day bite quarantine. If no owner comes forward to claim the dog after ten days, it will become property of the humane society and they will be evaluated for adoption.

She also said they were able to save one lamb following the attack.

Two ewes (mother sheep) and four baby lambs were killed Thursday after an unleashed dog attacked the herd of firefighting sheep that are currently working their way through Carson City's foothills mowing down cheat grass.

An unidentified box with a wire sticking out of it was discovered Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community on Lompa Lane, prompting the Carson City Sheriff's Office to contact the Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad due to the suspicion nature of the package.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong has joined Nevada sheriffs in all 17 counties statewide in agreeing to a 120-day temporary extension for all Concealed Weapons Permits (CCW) that have expired, or will expire, on or after March 12, 2020.

According to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, the Sheriff's Office has slightly changed the way they perform their duties thanks to the shut down, and they are already seeing a change in calls for emergency services. While there has been an increase in "stress related" calls, intoxication-related calls are down and community members have been taking care of each other, said Furlong.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office is pleased to welcome Remus to the K-9 Unit. Remus is an 18-month-old Shepherd Malinois mix, from Poland, and is a total rookie. Remus will undergo intense training over the next 5 weeks alongside handler Josh Chaney, Carson City Sheriff’s Patrol Deputy.

The coronavirus relief bill passed March 27 by Congress provides payments to individuals who make less than $100,000 a year. Gov. Steve Sisolak made Nevada one of the first states to enter a state of partial lockdown last Tuesday as an emergency step meant to stem the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus, enforcing a closure of the state’s casinos and urging other non-essential businesses to close their doors for 30 days.

Three were arrested Saturday for suspicion of child neglect and endangerment among other charges after a baby was brought into the hospital emergency room for ingesting methamphetamine, a Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team arrest report states.

In response to Governor Sisolak’s Declaration of Emergency Directive 003, Carson City officials announced today they plan to work closely with businesses and residents in ensuring compliance with the Governor’s directive.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office will be joining forces with other law enforcement agencies statewide focusing on speeding violations from March 20-30.
