Carson City Historical Society to hold open house for Foreman-Roberts House and Carriage House Sunday

The Foreman Roberts House will be open one Sunday a month with various exciting displays, the first being the “History of the Foreman Roberts House.”

Both the Foreman Roberts and the Carriage House will be open on Sunday, January 26 from 2-5.

Carson City Historical Society's Save Adele's building fundraiser continues, nearly $7K raised

Please help save Adele’s building in Carson City, Nev. There was great pride in our city when the Captain Porter’s House, now Adele’s, was first built. A quote from the newspaper is as follows:

Carson City Historical Society spearheads campaign to save Adele's building

The Carson City Historical Society Board held an emergency meeting on Dec. 21 to discuss the eminent demolition of Adele’s, and strategized on how this historic building could be preserved.

The board voted to pursue a fund raising campaign to work with the community to preserve the 155 year-old Adele’s building at 1112 North Carson Street, Carson City, Nev.

Carson City Historical Society Celebrates 50 Years

CCHS Board members and volunteers celebrate 50th anniversary.

Following a Carson City Historical Society Board meeting on Feb. 11, Board members gathered for a little celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the CCHS.

The Nevada Landmarks Society (NLS) was founded on February 11, 1969, in order to preserve the Roberts House, the yellow Gothic Revival-style house at 1207 North Carson St., now known as the Foreman-Roberts House. The NLS later became the Carson City Historical Society.

The Carson City Historical Society is offering an Afternoon Tea Luncheon on Sunday, Nov. 4 in the historic Foreman-Roberts House from 1 to 3 p.m.

Reserve your seat before Oct. 20. The Tea will be catered by Bella Vita restaurant and will include High Tea favorites: seasonal soup, salad, scones, a variety of finger sandwiches and special dessert bites, along with a variety of teas. The menu will be served at your table.

Dress up if you would like, or come in casual attire.

We are running out of summer weekends. I know that’s hard to believe right now, but hoodies and everything pumpkin is just beyond the horizon. Grab summer with both hands and go enjoy this beautiful city. The Brewery Arts Center brings Dennis Johnson and the Mississippi Ramblers to the stage for tonight’s free concert. Check out the Railroad Museum for your fill of music and antique motor cars. Car lovers have two shows to choose from today: spectators will be able to enjoy both, but you’ll have to pick one if you want to enter your ride. Keep reading for more summertime fun.

What to do Wednesday in Carson City? Plenty including Concert Under the Stars with Jefferson Starship, Midnight North

What a day. The Concert Under the Stars brings Jefferson Starship to the outdoor stage at the Brewery Arts Show. Get there early to peruse the silent auction items and food vendors; the annual fundraising benefit for the Greenhouse Project is always the talk of the town. The Greatest Showman on Earth makes an appearance at the Dangberg Home Historic Ranch: it’s Chautauqua night, and Doug Mishler will be portraying “Circus Showman P. T. Barnum.” The Stewart Indian School in east Carson City has history reaching into the early days of our state.

It’s a planes, trains, and automobiles kind of weekend. Add in bands, bikes and bar-be-ques and we’ve got most of this weekend’s list covered. The Carson City Airport is celebrating 90 years at this year’s open house and fly-in. One of the summer’s best events with balloon rides, cool old planes, and much more: you won’t want to miss it. Beat the heat at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada; all admission fees have been waived today thanks to Carson City Toyota. Summer concerts at the Brewery Arts Center begin tonight with the Original Wailers.

Historic Roberts House Antiques and Yard Sale, July 8, Carson City

Once again we are having a great yard sale with many vendors to help support the Roberts House Museum. Come on down and find treasures of antiques, collectibles and much more. We are located st 1207 N Carson St, Carson City. It will be from 9-4 pm, Sat. July 8. SpoonMe Creations will be there with lots a unique jewelry. It will be outdoors so come and enjoy our great weather and shop for those one of a kind items.

Leisure Hour Club Recognizes Carson City Historical Society with Donation

The Carson City Leisure Hour Club recently donated $500 to the Carson City Historical Society. Accepting the check for the Society were President Gary Cain along with members Paula Cannon, Dona Spencer, Debbie Lane and Gary Yoakum. The presentation occurred at the Club’s dinner meeting on April 19.

It’s Presidents Day weekend with a Valentine’s Day cherry on top. There is still time for some shopping if you’re looking for something for your special someone. Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery hosts its annual Champagne and Jewelry party Saturday and offers some amazing hand-crafted bling for your sweetheart. Carson Mall is another great bet for last minute gifts. Several crafters, vendors, and shops make it easy to find something unique. The annual Feast of Chocolate returns to the Plaza Event Center; raising funds for scholarships has never tasted so good.

I don’t mean to make this hard on you, but you have some decisions to make. All day, all night, all weekend long, there are numerous activities throughout our area. Take a good look at the list, grab your friends, family, and kids, and have a great weekend. The Experimental Aircraft Association is hosting the Ford Tri-Motor this weekend, and has Young Eagles flights for the kids: registration and orientation is at 8 a.m. Head over to Eagle Valley Golf for free family golf day.
