Welcome back to the weekend, readers. Halloween stuff is plentiful (go HERE for a complete list of upcoming activities), pumpkins are patched, the ghosts are walking, and there are loads of events to keep you, your friends and family entertained. The Harvest Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum is a fun treat for kids of all ages. It’s time for the annual all-day downtown Ghost Walk. From 10 a.m.

Leaves turning, wind blowing, and all things pumpkin sprouting up everywhere. It is absolutely autumn in Northern Nevada. Get ready for Halloween with your choice of pumpkin patches. Seeliger Elementary School is hosting theirs for the twenty-fifth year in a row. Take a trip on the V and T Steam Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum, actually take several trips. The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. So many more fun activities are available to you, you’ll have to read on to see them all.

Clinical and Stage Hypnotist Dan Kimm takes his FUNdraising seriously, very seriously. When he heard Mark Lindquist was in desperate need of funds Kimm took an immediate call of action.

One might think that the end of summer means that the fun times are over: they would be wrong. This list of happenings in the Carson City area isn’t getting any shorter. The annual Genoa Candy Dance is a favorite among locals and visitors alike, and this weekend welcomes the first ever Silver State Arts Festival at Fuji Park, as well. The first ever Community Garage Sale at the Community Center offers one-stop bargain hunting. Swing into the season at the monthly dance party hosted by the High Sierra Swing Dance Club.

Enjoy these September days, it will be blustery and cold before we know it. Celebrate our neighbor to the east during their annual Dayton Valley Days street festival. Tour their museums, pan for gold, and enjoy samples at their Chili cook-off. Downtown Carson is a hotbed of fun tonight with two pub crawls and the Ghost Walk Haunted History Tour. Save the date for our first annual Steppin’ Back In Time fundraising event. Join us for an exciting evening of early 20th century fun as we step back to 1910! Come dressed in historic costume (optional), enjoy hors d'oeuvres and refreshments and celebrate life as it was on the Comstock. Your participation will support the Historic Fourth Ward School built in 1876. Our four storied, Victorian Era, Second Empire, wood school building is the only one in existence in the United States, the “Last-One-Standing.”

A downpour of rain Saturday didn't keep a thirsty bunch from attending the 2017 Carson City Beer Crawl hosted by the Brew Crew and sponsored by Firestone 805 beer.

It was a great time as crawlers braved the downpour, stopping at a dozen downtown Carson City locations. Lots of great raffle prizes were given away at the end and, as you can see in the photos, smiles all around.

Make this weekend something special. School starts up on Monday and it will be Halloween before we blink an eye. The Carl Howell Memorial Music Festival at Battle Born Harley boasts a full day of live music, vendors, activities and family fun. Bowers Mansion plays host to the annual Bluegrass Festival – bring a picnic and enjoy. Downtown Carson City will see the first of three monthly Beer Crawls; if you get there early, head over to Remedy’s to witness their yearly Bloody Mary Competition. There is something for everyone this weekend, so keep reading and find your fun.

The Jazz and Beyond Music Festival has buddied up with something new this year. Today and tomorrow, the Jukebox International Film Festival features fifteen contestants competing in four categories. Youth Theater Carson City and Western Nevada Musical Theater alum, Grant Davis, is back in town to show support for ‘Something Like Summer,’ the Australian musical he stars in. Make sure you’re in McFadden Plaza around 5 p.m. Davis will be performing songs from the movie and music from his debut album on the Third Street Stage.

It is going to be a beautiful Tuesday: toasty, but not too hot, and with a nice afternoon breeze. As the summer goes along, kids get a little antsy. Take your grade schooler up to Silver City for their annual Bike Safety Rodeo and you’ll leave confident that they know the rules of the road. Hit the dance floor tonight. You can learn some beginning swing dance moves at El Charro Avita. Grab your partner and head to Carson Lanes for lessons in country line dancing and a good time with DJ Cowboy Bobby Truesdale.

TUESDAY:

As the sun came up over Lake Tahoe the day after the July 4 celebrations, scores of volunteers were headed to the beaches to help clean up the trash left behind on local beaches.

A July favorite with a dash of all the right spices arrives in Carson City this weekend when Honor Flight Nevada hosts its annual High Sierra and Nevada Capitol Regional Chili Cook Off at Glen Eagles Restaurant this Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m- 5 p.m.

Happy Wednesday, Carson City. The long holiday weekend is over, but you can keep the good times rolling. The Fox Brewpub is hosting their monthly Whiskey Wednesday tonight, complete with raffle prizes and of course, whiskey. The Classic Cinema Club pushed back their monthly movie viewing by a day, so head over to the BAC Performance Hall to watch ‘Three Came Home.’ Keep Tahoe Blue will be starting the day at numerous beaches; their annual clean-up is necessary after the fireworks.

Start July off with a bang, and some wine. With a four-day holiday weekend, you’ll find many things throughout the area to compete for your attention, but there’s no fun like the Downtown Business Association’s monthly Downtown Wine Walk. The festivities begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 1. Grab a wine glass, map, and hand stamp and you will have until 5 p.m. to hit as many stops as possible before the raffle begins.

Let the good times roll, Carson City. Cars, chrome, choppers, and kruzers are in abundance. Run Whatcha Brung at Fuji Park is open to any and all cars that can get themselves there. The Rockabilly Riot and T Bucket Alliance at Mills Park is an American Graffiti flashback. Cheer on our local motorcycle cops at the Extreme Motor Challenge, or hop on your own bike and go on a poker run with the Lords of Iron Motorcycle Club.

I love the summer solstice - longest day of sunshine all year. Celebrate the first day of summer with a hike up to our waterfalls; the guided Muscle Powered hike this evening will show you the way. Load up the kids and take a short drive to Silver City; all summer they offer educational fun stuff like today's 'mining for chocolate' activity. It's a night of 1000 Dad Jokes at the Brewery Arts Center where funny and punny run smack-dab into silly - laughter is the best family activity.

They’re back. Since 2014, Western Nevada College has hosted a group of philanthropic-minded cyclists who travel across the country to help people with disabilities.

Planes, trains, and automobiles take over Carson City this weekend. Steampunk ‘N’ Trains at the Nevada Railroad Museum features train rides, fun costumes, food trucks and more. You’ll find two car shows in town – the Party at the Pavilion as part of the Nevada State Fair and the Carson City Downtown Revival Car Show at the Carson Nugget. The Carson Airport Fly-In and Open House has plenty of aeronautic fun in store. You’ll have to keep reading for all of the fun options in Carson City and the surrounding valleys.

SATURDAY:

After Tahoe's July Fourth festivities, our beaches are thrashed with trash, which can hurt wildlife and lake clarity. Each year, hundreds of Tahoe residents and visitors turn out for our largest cleanup of the year to remove litter from our beaches. Help Keep Tahoe Blue by joining a beach cleanup site!

Cleanup sites include:
• Commons Beach (Tahoe City)
• Kings Beach
• Kiva Beach
• Nevada Beach
• Regan Beach

We will provide cleanup materials, refreshments and raffle prizes. Please bring your reusable water bottle, friends and cleanup gloves if you have them!

Honor Flight Nevada is hosting the High Sierra and Nevada Capitol Regional Chili Cook Offs at Glen Eagles Restaurant, Saturday July 8 and Sunday July 9.

The winner of the Chili Cook Offs and the winner of the Salsa competition continue on to the National Cook Off. People's Choice Chili competition is open to enter for free and is judged by all in attendance. Trophy and bragging rights to the winner.

The Third and Curry Farmers Market returns this Saturday morning to its regular spot behind the McFadden Plaza. For the rest of the summer season, from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. the award-winning market brings all sorts of goodies to downtown Carson City.

Treasure hunters will be kept busy with the Genoa Community Garage Sale, as well as one encompassing the Saratoga Springs area of Johnson Lane. Join us for our first home game of the season! Come watch this amazing double header, Carson Junior Victory Rollers VS. California Mayhem Junior Roller Derby and Carson Victory Rollers VS. Port City Roller Girls. We will have a great halftime show, raffle prizes, yummy food and drinks, and some killer derby! Family fun for all ages. We hope to see you there and thank you for supporting your local derby teams.

We’ve reached the mid-point of May, which puts summer just around the corner. I suspect there are plenty of students, and teachers too, that are counting down the days. The Carson High HOSA team is headed to their National Conference soon, and lunch or dinner at Chili’s will help get them there, just mention fundraiser to the server. We also have a T-Shirt fundraiser today at Firehouse Subs and Battle Born Ammunition & Firearms, LLC. The fundraiser is for Makayla Warner who is battling a rare kidney disease.

All good things must come to an end, and that includes the weekend. What is beginning, however, is Bike to Work Week. Please remember to share the road with those braving the potentially icky weather during busy commute times.

Summer? Winter? Flip a coin. I could’ve guessed the rain was coming, my lilacs just started to bloom. Don’t let your parade get rained out though, downtown Carson will march right through this wet stuff. The early Spring Farmers Market debuts today behind Due Sorella at Nevada and Musser Streets. Grab the kids and enjoy today’s open house with free admission at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada.
