Good morning Carson City, and happy weekend! We've got a warm day ahead with highs of 76 degrees! Today on the docket is the early farmer's market, a Mother's Day craft fair, the grand reopening of the second wind thrift store, and more!

Here's what's happening Saturday:

What a week it was Carson City, and it isn't even over yet. Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Zephyrus Brass Quintet will perform in the Expresso Yourself Café at the Brewery Arts Center Ballroom, 449 W King Street, Carson City, on Saturday, May 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. The live music is part of the Carson City Downtown Business Association Wine Walk, to be held that day from 1 to 5 p.m.

Grammy Award winning entertainer Janet Jackson brought her 2018 State of the World Tour to the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys on Friday, Aug. 10.

With the start of the third season of blockbuster summer outdoor concerts beginning Saturday in Carson City with reggae legends The Original Wailers, it seems fitting for It's Your City to feature the person behind the scenes who pushed locals to successfully vote for a grant to help fund the popular music series.

Zephyrus Brass Quintet will perform at the Brewery Arts Center Ballroom, 449 W King Street, Carson City, on Saturday, Jan. 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. The live music is part of the Carson City Downtown Business Association Wine Walk, to be held that day from 1 to 5 p.m.

Zephyrus Brass Quintet will perform a free concert at the Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson Street, Carson City, on Friday, October 28, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Friday Oct. 3 at 6:30PM “Dinner and Music at Foodies Bystro” includes live music, cuisine, wines and beers with vocalist-musicians Tom and Mary Kay Aufrance entertaining.

Foodies Bystro is located inside the Brewery Arts Center at 449 W. King St., Carson City, NV (775) 720-8011 (Advance dinner reservations are recommended but not required.)

Serving chef prepared cuisine, wines and beers, this unique restaurant is surrounded by local artwork. Foodies is open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and Thursday through Saturday for dinner.

The Mile High Jazz Band Association and the Brewery Arts Center present pianists Alexander Tutunov, Lisa DeSpain, and Tristan Selzler in a Piano Summit on Sunday, August 4, 1:30 to 4:15 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King Street, Carson City. Admission is free.

An action-packed week filled with music, arts, books, Nevada political history and more will be featured as Carson City Library celebrates National Library week.

Special events kick off Monday, 6 p.m., at the library auditorium with “The Lure of Music, a Human Universal” presented by internationally-recognized music scholar Fredric Lieberman, Ph.D., a distinguished professor of music at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Lake Tahoe’s annual Valhalla Arts, Music and Theatre Festival has some of the most unique entertainment choices around-the-lake with its solid line-up of performing arts and cultural events running through the month of September. For tickets call (530) 541-4975 or click here.

Here’s the upcoming line-up:

Tahoe Dance Band performs at the Grand Hall on Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m. The 17-piece band plays big band and swing with fox trots, waltzes, tangos, and polkas. Tickets are $15/$12/$5.

LAKE TAHOE — Get ready for jazz, Celtic, mystery, comedy, bluegrass, percussion and a whole lot more at the Lake Tahoe Valhalla Arts, Music and Theatre Festival. The Festival takes place at the historic Tahoe Tallac site, a 74-acre setting currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places and a 1800’s favorite getaway for Northern California’s elite members of society.  But you don’t have to be an elite member of society to enjoy the variety of affordable and sometimes even free events at the Valhalla Festival.

One of Lake Tahoe’s most notable cultural events will take place at the Valhalla Arts, Music and Theatre Festival the weekend of July 24 and 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Wa She Shu It Deh Native American Festival is a rare cultural event for families taking place on the grounds of the Valhalla Grand Hall with a basket weaving competition, native film festival, traditional dance, native artists, performers and much more.

LAKE TAHOE — Visitors and locals alike can head to the shoreline of the Tallac Historic Site for some of the area’s most unique and diverse entertainment. The Valhalla Arts, Music, and Theatre Festival is bringing down the house with its July line-up and it’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
