Reno Tahoe Comedy is proud to present Bobcat Goldthwait at Piper's Opera house in Virginia City on Saturday, April 27. Since his first appearance on the David Letterman Show at the age of 20, Bobcat has gone on to maintain a thriving career as a writer, director, actor, voice actor and stand-up comedian.

Anna Harris was the first woman in the County of Douglas who was granted a Sole Proprietorship License. A Chautauquan since the age of 13, Debilynn Smith, who portrays Anna Harris, is a "Living Historian" and also makes her own period correct attire for the several characters she depicts.

On June 22, 2023, at 7:00 pm, Nevada Author Sandie La Nae will be presenting a PowerPoint lecture on her book, "Eilley Riches To Rags at Bowers Mansion."

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Is it the middle of the work week already? That's what a 3-day holiday weekend brings. Heading into Wednesday, May 29, 2019, there's a number of events around the Carson City region lined up, including Salsa dancing classes at Yaple's Ballroom, a live music show at Piper's Opera House in Virginia City (hosted by the Canvas Cafe) and a live jazz jam at Living the Good Life in Carson City.

We're working our way into Thursday, April 25, 2019 and feeling the warmup around the Carson City region. Winding down our work week we have art, theater and railroad history talks, library presentations, a fitness walk, climate change discussion, back pain wellness workshop, music ensemble at the community center and more. Enjoy the day.

Country dancing is coming to Virginia City on Thursday, April 25 with a free community event at Pipers Opera House. The Carson Lanes Country Kickers, a dance group that meets and dances weekly at Carson Lanes’ Eleventh Frame Lounge, will bring their skill, enthusiasm and fun to the first, in what hopefully will be the first of many country dance nights on the spring-loaded dance floor at Piper’s.

Members of the Carson City Leisure Hour Club will learn of the loves and losses of Julia Bulette, renowned resident of Virginia City, at their dinner meeting on Wednesday, October 18.

Bulette’s murder began a manhunt that last over a year and resulted in the arrest, trial, and the April 24, 1869 execution of John Millian.

In what was the largest gathering of people in Nevada up to that time, 3,000 to 4,000 people were present at the hanging.

Beatles Flashback performs a concert to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sgt Peppers album at 7:00pm Sept 22 at Pipers Opera House in Virginia City.

They've performed at the the Peppermill for Hot August Nights (3 years running)and offer live Beatles music in a "no suits no wigs-just the good stuff" way.

They involve the audience and offer an energetic show that always offers a splendid time for all.

The train will depart the depot in Carson City at 10 a.m. arrive in Virginia City about 11:15 a.m. you will then be shuttled up to the opera house, lunch is from noon to 1 p.m. and the concert will start at 1:30 p.m., you will then be shuttled back to the train depot for the ride back to Carson City.

Help us raise the curtain at Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City once again on April 2, from 3-5 pm, at a gala premiere party, an intimate and exclusive event, to present scenes from the new opera, The Big Bonanza.
The Territorial Enterprise newspaper writer Dan DeQuille was commissioned to tell the story of the epic 1873 discovery of the Comstock Lode by the “Bonanza King”’ John W. Mackey.

• Take a ride on the Virginia and Truckee #25 Steam Engine at the Nevada State Train Museum Friday through Monday.

Virginia City, Genoa and Incline Village on the shores of Lake Tahoe have been selected among Nevada's 10 most unique towns in the online publication the culturetrip.com.

Noting Nevada is the seventh largest state by area, the website describes the Silver State comes with a "great deal of open space, varying landscapes, and many small towns dotting the terrain." The CultureTrip.com website has previously featured Carson City and Virginia City area landmarks, museums and restaurants as unique or must-see stops for travelers.
