After a downward trend in feelings of financial security in the first half of 2023, Americans are starting to feel relief. A new survey from Country Financial found that Americans’ levels of financial security are improving. Nearly 6 in ten Americans (59%) rate their level of financial security as excellent or good, a 5-point increase from Q2 2023.

A new survey from Country Financial finds the economy continues to have a negative impact on Americans’ finances. The number of Americans who rate their level of financial security as excellent or good declined by 5 points since Q4 2022.

Additionally, Americans are setting aside less money for savings or investments (53%) and feel less confident in their ability to enjoy a comfortable retirement when the time comes (56%) compared to Q1 2023 (55% and 60%, respectively).

Americans are making financial decisions to withstand the current economy such as:

A recent COUNTRY Financial survey revealed about 9 out of 10 (88%) of Americans are concerned about inflation, and rightly so. In October, annual inflation hit a 30-year high. According to the survey Americans plan to alter their spending habits and lifestyle choices and even postpone costly plans that they’ve been making.

CARSON CITY — Nearly two dozen Carson High School Future Business Leaders of America students claimed more than 40 top-10 awards including five state championships at the Nevada State Business Leadership Conference.

CHS FBLA students just finished competing in the Nevada State Business Leadership Conference. Originally, the event was scheduled to be held in Reno, but had to be held digitally due to Covid-19.

Winterfest is here, and the theme, Carson's Got Game, is more than just a nice motto, it is a series of multiple physical board games, playground games, and video games. According to CHS physical education teacher and Leadership adviser Ann Britt, “the class color teachers will be playing a game of life-size Hungry Hippo during the assembly Jan. 17, and we will be doing a door decorating competition with judging taking place Jan. 21; the top three winners will receive a gift card to Starbucks.”

Library Director Sena Loyd announces the grand re-opening of the Carson City Library and its newly repurposed auditorium, now known as The Digitorium. The event will be held Thursday, Oct. 23, from noon to 7 p.m. The public is invited to explore reconfigured spaces at the library’s 900 North Roop Street main branch.

The @ Two Digital Learning Center, on the second-floor of the Carson City Library, has launched learning opportunities by scheduling a new-round of basic computer classes.

Located on the second floor of the library annex, above the current Youth Department, @Two has been a busy community resource for patrons over the last year. Unfortunately access to the second-floor has been unreliable thanks to an aging and highly temperamental elevator.

It’s not too late to register for summer classes at Western Nevada College in Carson City and Fallon. The summer term begins Monday, June 10, and offers students the opportunity to earn full credit on a condensed schedule, or get up to speed on college level skills.

Carson City Library Director Sara Jones announces the opening of the Carson City Library’s second floor Digital Media Learning Center, @Two.

The Carson City Library will launch a weeklong grand opening celebration of the new digital technology center, beginning Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Located on the second floor of the library annex, above the current Youth Department, the center has been introduced to computer-using patrons over the last several weeks and now the community is invited, according to a news release

Carson High School in Carson City now has its own “Senators” debit card for student checking accounts. The card was designed by students through a contest held by Greater Nevada Credit Union, which has an educational branch inside of the high school.
