Performances will be at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City on May 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26.

Based on the Peter Tchaikovsky’s original ballet “The Nutcracker” this shorter, 45-minute version called "Peanutcracker" is a narrated story that is designed for families with younger children to introduce them to the wonderful world of ballet.

Both organizations will retain their independence and tax exempt, nonprofit status.

Phantom of the Opera at Carson Community Center

The production will appear Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 4 - 20 at 2 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $18-22 and may be purchased by phone or in person at the Performing Arts Office of Western Nevada College, 775-445-4249. Parking is free.

The video is from Bob Fulkerson, executive director of the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada speaking on behalf of the Nevada Values Coalition, a new group of activists and organizations formed to propose innovative strategies to create balanced solutions to the state's budget crisis. Beginning on Sunday, Jan. 2, from 1 to 5 p.m., cultural organizations in downtown Carson City will open their doors to offer free music and dance performances, demonstrations by traditional artists, visual arts and history exhibitions, children’s activities and shopping opportunities.
