The Rotary Club of Carson City’s weekly meeting will feature guest speaker Dr. Johnathan David Hawk, the Chief Operations Officer at the Nevada State High School. The public is invited to attend the online meeting which takes place Tuesday, September 1st, at noon.

It is wonderful to be back in school, to again see the smiling faces of young people walking throughout the building, going from class to class with excitement and anticipation, gently pushing at their friends to move along, so no one ends up being late to class.

Northern Nevada Development Authority, Adams Hub of Northern Nevada, and Carson City Downtown Business Association announced Thursday a joint promotion program focused on downtown Carson City businesses.

CARSON CITY — Small businesses and non-profits in Nevada are now able to apply for the state’s commercial rental assistance grant program, established through the State Treasurer’s Office and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. The program begins today, Monday, August 24.

RENO — A report released this week by the Nevada State Apartment Association (NVSAA) shows local apartment rents growing at a slower rate during the second quarter of 2020.

CARSON CITY — The State Treasurer’s Office and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development announced Monday that small businesses and non-profits will be able to apply for State’s commercial rental assistance program beginning on August 24, 2020.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Feeding Pets of the Homeless, a national non-profit organization dedicated to feeding and providing emergency veterinary care to pets of the homeless population, is hosting its 11th annual Give a Dog a Bone Week, a national event to collect pet food and supplies for those in need, from Aug. 10-16.

A group of about thirty Black Lives Matter protesters from Gardnerville, Carson City and Lake Tahoe took to the streets of Douglas County today, where they were met with hundreds of heavily armed counter-protesters, some of whom were physically and verbally assaulting the mostly-teenaged protesters.

Pioneer High School is a public high school in the Carson City School District. All 9th-12th grade CCSD students are encouraged to enroll. PHS is accredited through AdvancED and has been recognized by the Nevada Department of Education as a “Highlighted School” for achievement in 2011 and 2018. Students at PHS have been able to earn an Associate’s Degree from WNC along with their high school diploma free of charge.

Stacey Giomi, Ward 1 Supervisor, former Fire Chief, and Regional Director of Operations for Rural Programs and Director of Facilities & Emergency Preparedness at Nevada Health Centers, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Carson City Democratic Men's Committee's tele-luncheon. Nevada Health Centers is a state-wide organization that provides medical and dental care to over 50,000 low-income, uninsured, underinsured and geographically isolated residents of Nevada. It is the largest community health center in Nevada, with locations in seven different Nevada counties.

For the second year in a row, The Salvation Army is holding school supply drives at more than 4,500 Walmart locations across the country. In the Carson City, Douglas County and Reno areas, there are 8 Walmart stores participating this Friday through Sunday. Due to COVID-19, the need is greater than ever before. The next Carson City Board of Supervisor’s meeting will take place Thursday, Aug. 6 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, located at 851 East William Street.
