A week of various Halloween activities, trick-or-treats, and festivities for the kids begins tomorrow with the first ever Boo-nanza: a family-friendly collaboration between the Community Center, Carson City Library, and Aquatic Center. Tonight, the over 21 crowd gets to enjoy a costume contest at Alatte inside the Carson Nugget, with many more parties on the way.

Luckily, we have plenty to keep us busy until Saturday. Two new art exhibits have appeared over the weekend: the annual Nevada Day Show at the Nevada Artists Association gallery, and ‘Inspirations’ at the Community Development Building, across from City Hall on Proctor.
Friday, Oct. 20: Things to do in Carson City

The Halloween festivities for the over 21 crowd get started tonight with parties at Living the Good Life, Ed's Doghouse, and Jimmy G's Cigar Bar. If your costume isn't ready yet, you'll still have plenty of opportunities between now and Oct. 31. A hypnotic fundraiser for Mark Lindquist takes place at Silver Oak Golf Course this evening.
Pioneer Students Visit Nevada Art Museum

These type of field trips are designed and encouraged to help build background knowledge and can help inspire students with hidden artistic talent just waiting to be discovered.

Silver City Arts Group Offers Free Public Events

The group draws on the community's own rich resource of artists, artisans and musicians, and also connects with regional and statewide groups to bring programming by national and international artists and musicians. He's been on tour, reading and teaching at the Cliff Notes Writing Conference in Utah and at poetry festivals in Ohio, among others.

The art sale will take place Friday, August 5 from 4-6:30 p.m. on the porch, 608 Elizabeth Street, Carson City. The free events include art for sale, music, food, and a lovely home and garden to tour. The public is cordially invited.
"Wally's World" coming to OXS Gallery, reception and talk Sept. 14

The public is invited to join the council from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14 for an exhibit reception and collector's talk. Cuchine's discussion of his art collection begins at 6:15 p.m. The exhibit and reception are free.
Chamber of Commerce unveils local artist, St. Clair's metal sculpture
Submitted by Rachel Spacek on Sat, 05/23/2015 - 2:57pmA local metal artist, Robbie St. Clair unveiled his six-foot metal sculpture of two mustangs rearing. The Carson City Chamber commissioned St. Clair to create the piece of uniquely Nevada art.
Continuing in the vein of placing public art in public places such as that placed along the I-580 corridor as part of the freeway construction, St. Clair’s mustang sculpture was unveiled and dedicated Saturday.
St. Clair began to pursue metal 10 years ago when he found himself wanting to create art that was tangible. He began to construct signs and started taking art classes.

Website Theculturetrip.com named four area restaurants to its "10 Best Restaurants in Nevada: Local Food & Fine Dining" list. They are: The Basil in Carson City, Cafe Del Rio in Virginia City, Brooks' Bar & Deck at Edgewood Tahoe in Stateline and Le Bistro in Incline Village.
Courthouse Gallery in Carson City, St. Mary's in Virginia City make list of must-see Nevada art stops

In announcing its list the website notes Nevada is dotted with many places for art lovers to explore, including traditional galleries to more unique spaces. From Reno to Elko the state boasts a wide range of art from a host of talented individuals, including locals and international artists.

Cuchine will be discussing his love and talent for collecting Nevada art as well as each of the 35 pieces in Wally’s World: The Loneliest Art Collection in Nevada, an exhibit currently featured at the History Center.

Alberti art featured at Nevada State Legislature

Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. adjacent to the Caucus Deli, the LXS space displays Alberti’s series “Time Frame” March 18 through April 5. Managed by the Artist Services Program of the Nevada Arts Council, the Legislative eXhibition Series has provided a spotlight on the Silver State's breadth of contemporary and folk artists during the biennial session since 1985.
Arts advocate Wally Cuchine retires, notable Nevadans give tribute
