Happy Tuesday, Carson City. The United States Air Force Band of the Golden West has returned and will be at the Community Center tonight, if you were quick enough to grab free tickets from the Chamber of Commerce. Join the ladies of Muscle Powered for a mountain bike ride through beautiful Ash Canyon. Hear the stories and legends of the Washoe People in their native language with translations into English at the Carson Valley Cultural Center. Continue on for even more to do.

Carson kids have one last week to lay about, while their neighbors in Douglas and Lyon County are headed back to school. Jazz and Beyond continues with some fun times downtown. Me and Bobby McGee will appear in the Comma Courtyard, followed by the Rosebud Dance Band in the McFadden Plaza. Head to the Carson City Library to meet the Heroes of the Carson City Fire Department as part of the ongoing series, ‘What’s up in your community?’ Keep reading for all of Monday’s options.

The weekend has arrived and there are festivals everywhere. A Basque Festival and Picnic can be found in Gardnerville. Bowers Mansion hosts a Bluegrass Festival for the 31st year. Ta-Hoe Nalu Paddle Festival returns to King Beach for the weekend. The Annual Jazz and Beyond Music Festival has infiltrated the whole valley with musicians. I hope you like live music, Carson City, because tonight you’ve got plenty of it. No matter what your style, there is someone for you. Take the kids to the Nevada State State Train Museum for Lucky Diamond and the Gents of Jive or to the McFadden Plaza for an outdoor concert with Musicole. Leave the kids with a sitter if you’re going to head to Living the Good Life for some outdoor fun with CV-41 or inside the Westside Pour House with reggae group Whiskey Lung. A to Zen has a store-wide scavenger hunt to accompany their weekly open Mic.

Jazz and more filled the air around the Nevada state capital Tuesday night as the annual Carson City Jazz and Beyond Music Festival continues through Aug. 21.

Just a few more weeks until the kids head back to school, so get out and enjoy the summer while you can. Jazz and Beyond brings a free outdoor concert to the Minnesota Street Stage at the Brewery Arts Center this evening. It’s the Carson Dreamers tonight, but you can go HERE for all of the upcoming music festival events. The Nevada Arts Council welcomes Justin Favela’s new exhibit to their OXS Gallery with a reception and talk by the artist.

Conditions were ideal for an outdoor concert in the country Sunday afternoon. With highs in the eighties, the dog days of August seemed tame compared with seasons past.

This is no sleepy Sunday. Genoa will be a fun place to explore with their monthly Sweet Sippin Sunday stroll and Art in the Park. Jazz and Beyond Music Festival continues with four bands out at the Silver Saddle Ranch in conjunction with a celebration of 20 years of the Quality of Life Initiative. Impressions of Jazz: Art, and Music History will be held in the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall in Carson City on Thursday, August 11, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Wine walk weekend is almost upon us, along with the kick-off of the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival featuring more than 100 musicians in over 60 events in just fifteen days. Hot August Nights is heating up and will be stopping at Minden Park for their Poker Run lunch. Sing your heart out during karaoke at Living the Good Life or Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar. Welcome to Wednesday, Carson City. The week keeps on rolling along and every day brings some new kind of fun. Kick up your heels at Carson Lanes: Country Line dance lessons tonight. Westside Pour House hosts the Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz each week; it’s a great excuse to grab some friends and fight for bragging rights. The launch party of ‘The Studio’ at the Adams Hub on Proctor Street invites you tour the building, learn about the incubator’s resources, meet some of Carson’s movers and shakers, and enjoy some treats.

Silver City, Nevada - Narrative, story-telling visual artist Frances Melhop, voted “One of the World's 200 Best Advertising Photographers 2009/2010″ by Luerzers Archive, will bring her skills and talents to the Resident Artist Program in Silver City this summer. She'll set up a temporary studio at the Silver City School House during August 2016, photographing some of the Comstock’s longtime residents for a 2017 exhibition at the Haldan Art Gallery at Tahoe.

August means many things: Hot August Nights, the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival, the return of football, and the last few weeks of summer vacation. The construction downtown is showing signs of advancement with the recent completion of the Bob McFadden Plaza.

Quality of Life Initiative 20th Anniversary Free Concert at Silver Saddle Ranch, Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 3 to 8 p.m.

Carson City Open Space in partnership with the Mile High Jazz Band Association will host four bands, food trucks, and burros to pet at Silver Saddle Ranch located at 4901 Carson River Road.

Join the Reno Chamber Orchestra for a special concert event celebrating the upcoming Nevada Chamber Music Festival. The concert will feature performances by guest violinist, Solomiya Ivakhiv,Theodore Kuchar (viola), Ruth Lenz (violin), and James Winn (piano). Mile High Jazz Band Association and Carson City present the 13th Annual Jazz & Beyond Festival. It features 17 days of Music and Art at multiple venues in Carson City, August 5-21.

"Jazz & Beyond is a homegrown event celebrating the talent of our region and relying on many local music fans who donate their time and effort," said committee co-chair David Bugli, President of the Mile High Jazz Band Assoc. "Volunteers, sponsors, and advertisers help us make the event one of the best in the area, and keep most performances admission free."

Back by popular demand, the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West will be bringing their full concert band to the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Carson City Community Center on August 16 for a 7 p.m. show.

This year, the performance will coincide with and be a part of the annual Carson City Jazz & Beyond Carson City Music Festival that begins on August 5.

Carson City has had the pleasure of welcoming Rowan brothers, Lorin and Chris over the years as they’ve played at Cafe at Adele’s. This year is no different, but with one exception: In addition to opening Concert Under the Stars, A Benefit For The Greenhouse Project, Thursday, July 14, The Rowans also play at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, on the veranda.

There will be no better place to be Thursday, July 14, than at Cafe at Adele’s in Carson City for the eighth annual Concert Under the Stars, A Benefit for The Greenhouse Project, when the summer air fills with the unstoppable rhythm, blues and funk sounds of Tower of Power, who have delighted crowds since they first began playing in Oakland, Calif.

Olympic champion Jamie Anderson from South Lake Tahoe will be part of 20th Boarding for Breast Cancer Snowboard and Music Festival, Shredding the Love this Saturday at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort.

The inspiration behind B4BC was a young woman named Monica Steward, co-founder of Bonfire, who at was diagnosed with breast cancer the age of 26 and passed away in 1996 at the age of 29.

Night in the Country Music Festival has added Craig Morgan and Old Southern Moonshine Revival to the 2016 lineup at the Lyon County Fairgrounds in Yerington, July 21–23.

Night in the Country is celebrating its 15th year with the largest lineup in its history, featuring some of the biggest country artists in the world including headliners Tyler Farr, Chase Rice and Kip Moore.

The Carson High School Chamber Choir has been accepted to perform at the Anaheim Heritage Festival in southern California. They were very excited about the idea of performing in Disneyland. Once they were told of the costs of the trip you could see the dismay in many of their faces.

Night in the Country will celebrate its 15th year as Nevada's longest-running country music festival with the largest lineup in its history, featuring some of the biggest country artists in the world including headliners Tyler Farr, Chase Rice and Kip Moore. The festival, set for July 21 – 23 at the Lyon County Fairgrounds in Yerington, has also added Phil Vassar and Josh Abbott Band to the 2016 lineup.

It's "big-band jazz times three" when the Mile High Jazz Band, Carson High Jazz Band, and Carson Middle School Jazz Band present the 13th annual combined concert, the Mile High-Carson High Jazz Extravaganza.

We’ve made it, Carson City! Today is the last day of 2015, so get your resolutions handy. I’ve got your usual list of all that’s going on in town, organized by start time, but I’ve grouped all of the New Year’s festivities together at the bottom. If you’re looking for a little extra luck in 2016 try wearing red underwear, having a stocked pantry before the day is done, and having cash in your hand when the clock strikes twelve.
