Heading into the weekend, post-Christmas holiday activities continue around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include a Christmas Through the Years presentation at the Carson Valley Community Theater, Open Mic Night at A to Zen Gift Shop, musicians Lauren Kepler and Dan Cypher at Bella Vita Bistro, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club and much more!

Hello Carson City and happy day after Christmas. It has been a truly wonderful holiday season experience and it's not over yet. We celebrate our community for its many, many charitable functions and its generosity in the spirit of Christmas and giving. Thank you Carson City for making this holiday season a truly memorable one. Here's a look what's ahead Thursday.

Heading into Christmas Eve, activities around the capital city are winding down, but the last minute shopping will continue, so prepare for that rush on the roadways and at local stores. It is the last day of the Holiday Craft Show at Carson Mall, so stop on by. There are no planned Muscle Powered fitness events scheduled. Christmas Eve church services are at First Presbyterian Church in Carson City and other places of worship around town. Here's what's ahead Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019.

Please join us for a 7-mile round trip hike beginning at Silver Saddle ranch house, following up Dead Truck Trail, over the saddle to traverse North Loop, and back down Dead Truck Trail to our cars. There will be many splendid views of the Eastern Sierra to the west of Eagle and Carson Valleys.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include a toy and gift drive for homeless kids and teens, the 12th annual Christmas Carol Playalong for Strings at the Carson Mall, Carson City’s first-ever "Unsilent Night" at the Brewery Arts Center, a Só Sol dinner with entertainment at Sassafras, a "Pink Party" cancer center fundraiser at the Lighthouse Bar, comedian Dan St. Paul at the Carson Comedy Club and more.

The spirit of Christmas is in the air as we head into the final stretch of the work week. Thursday events around the capital city feature an afternoon hike hosted by Muscle Powered, a Carson City tradition with the return of Joyful Noise Holiday Community Show at the Brewery Arts Center and more.

Clouds will roll into the capital city region Tuesday keeping temperatures quite chilly. Happenings around town include organized morning and evening fitness walks, a "Stuff the Bus Toy Drive" at Capital Ford, a Planning Commission meeting on the proposed Andersen Ranch development and a Posada event at Mark Twain Elementary. Plus, the Carson City School Orchestra Program will hold its annual Holiday Concert at the community center, The Peanuts Gang Trio will hold a free holiday concert at Sassafras, and more.

Saturday, December 14

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the KTVN Share Your Christmas Food Drive at the Governor's Mansion in Carson City and at Minden's Carson Valley Inn, Homestead Holidays at the Silver Saddle Ranch and more. The Polar Express Train Rides are sold out for the rest of the year, but Santa Train express rides are steaming up at the Nevada State Railroad Museum over the weekend. Read on for details.

With activities lining up around the capital city through the weekend, Thursday events around the region include a meeting of the Healthy Communities Coalition in Silver Springs, an afternoon hike hosted by Muscle Powered, and a Carson City CASA volunteer information hour and training seminar. Along the music front, CHS Band will host its winter concert at the Carson City Community Center and our own local country music star and Nashville recording artist Art Mulcahy will be at Jimmy G's. Partly sunny skies and a daytime high in the mid-40s looks to be the order of the day around the capital city as we roll into Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019. Happenings around town include a book presentation by urban fantasy author SM Reine at the Nevada State Library and Archives, a morning fitness walk and evening hike, dance classes, a meeting of the CCSD board, plus festive December music and more with Night Lights Holiday Jazz and Poetry at Carson City's Comma Coffee. Happy Saturday Carson City! Tired of the fog yet? Well, there's a big storm that's scheduled to push in tomorrow, so it'll be interesting to see how that changes the weather.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of holiday events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights, the 24th annual Parade of Lights in Gardnerville, the annual Project Empty Bowls dinner held at the Carson Mall, a Holiday Crawl in downtown Carson City and much more! The days keep moving along, ever closer to the weekend and huge helpings of Christmas holiday activities. Thursday events around the capital city include a meeting of the Board of Supervisors, an afternoon hike hosted by Muscle Powered, a meeting with the developer of the proposed Andersen Ranch, a presentation: "Feathers and Furs of the Carson Valley" at the River Fork Ranch, an "End to Prohibition Party" at Gather restaurant, and more.

Snow days, snow way. At least that's what the weather forecast calls for Tuesday. We'll see mostly cloudy skies before another chance of rain or snow arrives midweek and then a larger storm in time for the weekend. As the saying goes of Nevada weather: Wait a minute and it will change. It is also #GivingTuesday. If you have a favorite organization, it's a good time to send a few dollars their way. Around town there's art showings, a fitness walk, hike, dance classes and an old school film favorite at the Brewery Arts Center hosted by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club.

Muscle Powered celebrates GivingTuesday by raising funds for our community partner Ron Wood Family Resource Center in Carson City to provide alternative transportation resources to community members in need. We are joining millions around the world participating in the global generosity movement.
