Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the South Carson Complete Streets Project groundbreaking ceremony, the International Film Festival held Friday and Saturday at the Carson City Community Center and Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada celebrate National Girl Scout Cookie weekend with door-to-door cookie sales. First Descents invites local young adults impacted by cancer or multiple sclerosis on a low-impact snowshoeing hike. The experience will empower participants to adventure outdoors beyond their diagnosis, reclaim their lives, connect with others doing the same and improve their long-term survivorship.

Kierra Bracken from the Office of Governor Steve Sisolak will preside over the Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month Proclamation Event on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Summit Estates Senior Living and Memory Care, 222 East Patriot Blvd., Reno. The event begins at 3 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.

My name is Christine Renee Miller and I passed away in Carson City this last Wednesday, January 9, at 9:02 p.m.

I was born in Reno on May 16, 1979 and placed in the arms of an angel. I grew up with the love of a wonderful family in Carson City and departed with their blessing.

I went to school at Carson High and graduated in 1997 with good memories and even better friends. I brought two beautiful daughters into this world and passed away with them by my side.

Our favorite red-headed orphan sings that ‘the sun’ll come out tomorrow.’ Luckily we don’t have to wait: for the sunshine or for the Wild Horse Children’s Theater’s production of Annie, Jr. You’ll find the musical at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall this weekend and next. Kids are welcome to make a free craft or decorate a St. Patrick’s Day Cookie at Genoa Candy and Coffee. Go on an ‘American Road Trip’ at the Plaza Hotel as part of their Mike Thompson Lecture Series. A 29-year-old Carson City man, who listed his occupation as a legislative assistant, was arrested early Sunday morning in the 800 block of South Saliman Road on misdemeanor charges of obstructing and delaying an officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

A Carson City man was arrested and faces multiple felony charges after he admitted to stealing and pawning an iPad and a prized WWF belt from a man with multiple sclerosis whom he lived with.

David J. Catalani, 32, is being held on $55,000 bail. He told authorities he pawned the victim's possessions in order to pay for domestic violence classes.
