Holiday movie premiers, turkey drop, craft show and more highlight weekend events around Carson City

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. A Thanksgiving Turkey Drop for families in need will be held Friday at Max Casino. The holiday movie premieres of “Feliz NaviDAD” and “Once Upon A Main Street” on Saturday will feature different venues in Carson City. Along with a craft show at the Carson Mall and live music, the state capital will be buzzing with excitement! Read on for more information.

Brace yourself, Carson City. We could be in for some wet and windy weather this weekend. The more adventurous of you will be participating in the Be Bold, Run in the Cold ‘Run with Rudolph’ 5/10K near Western Nevada College. If you’d rather be indoors, the Carson Mall is hosting a Holiday Craft Fair, and at noon will celebrate the grand opening of Ogres-Holm Pottery. Celebrate a Country Christmas with Mary Kaye and the Kaye Sisters in Genoa or get your Celtic fix at the Brewery Art Center with a performance by County Clarke. I hope you got your fill of naps last weekend because this weekend is chock full of fun to be had for all. You can Wine Walk until you Holiday Crawl downtown. Take your pick of craft shows in town. Kids won’t want to miss the Santa Train at the State Railroad Museum or one of the two performances of ‘The Peanutcracker’ at the Community Center. Whether you’d like to spend the days indoors or out, there is something for all ages in the Carson City area this weekend.

December 19, 2015 - 11:00am My neighbor is home bound, he is disabled. I returned from the grocery store this morning and saw these two getting out of their SUV (sleigh) with a big bag of goodies. I ran to my place and grabbed my camera then returned as they were leaving I asked Mr. and Mrs. Claus if I could get a photo. I have never seen Santa and his wife making house calls this early in December. .. You know it kind of got me in the Christmas spirit. I thought I would share. ~ Duane
