Seven Democrats run in the primary for Nevada's Second Congressional seat

Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District encompasses the northern part of the silver state including Carson City and the counties Churchill, Douglas, Elko, Eureka, Humbolt, Lander, Pershing, Storey and Washoe, as well as a part of Lyon County.

The district has never sent a Democrat to Washington. However, there are currently seven Democrats vying for the job, opposing Republican incumbent Mark Amodei.

A case for a Congressional candidate with common sense and mutual respect for Congress

The polarizing attitudes and ideology that has taken over the American political environment -- as witnessed in recently-held political debates and rallies, nationwide -- is a danger to traditional American democratic values of diversity and respect of the “marketplace of ideas”, where people are not listening to each other, where respect for diversity is lacking, where the prevailing political attitude seems to be “my way or the highway”.

In 2006, Giunchigliani was elected to the Clark County Commission. She was also president at different points of the Clark County Education Association and Nevada State Education Association.

Amodei Statement on Nevada Receiving More Than $240 Million in Provider Relief Fund Initial Allocation

Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-02) today released the following statement after the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced how the first portion of the Provider Relief Fund will be allocated.

The Provider Relief Fund, established under the CARES Act, provides a total of $100 billion in relief funds to hospitals and other healthcare providers on the front lines of the coronavirus response. The first $30 billion of the fund will be distributed starting today, with more than $240 million of this initial allocation going to Nevada.

Stimulus Program Information

The coronavirus relief bill passed March 27 by Congress provides payments to individuals who make less than $100,000 a year. The payment total $1,200 for each adult who makes $75,000 or less, plus $500 per child. The payment amounts decrease if you make between $75,000 and $99,000. The income is determined by your latest tax return filed with the IRS. It will use your 2019 taxes if you have filed them already, or your 2018 taxes if you haven't. Carson City sober-living facility closes, declares bankruptcy after client's death: Part II

On July 25, Joe Tummarello, a long-term client with Carson City-based sober-living facility Lyfe Recovery, passed away at Carson Tahoe Hospital. By all accounts, a month before his death he had been in fine health for a man of 76. He dealt with COPD and needed an oxygen tank to breathe in the high altitude of northern Nevada, but a check-up with his doctors during May of 2019 showed he was nowhere near the brink of death.

However, after being relocated to Carson City from Lyfe Recovery’s Reno facility, Joe’s medication was withheld and he was denied medical intervention after a rapid deterioration of his health, which ultimately, it is alleged, led to his death.
