The Carson City Council of the United States Navy League will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Carson City NUGGET Casino, 507 N. South Carson Street. This is a temporary change in venue! Unfortunately, the Gold Dust West was already booked for the 19th. The Social hour will start at 5:30 PM and Dinner will begin at 6:30PM.

Capital City throws party to celebrate 150th anniversary of Carson City Mint

On Tuesday, visitors to the Nevada State Museum sat in the front row of history to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Carson City Mint. Just as it did 150 years ago, the Mint’s Coin Press No. 1 pressed silver coins, complete with the famous “CC” mint mark.

Heading into Tuesday, the capital city will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Carson City Mint with events throughout the day. Other activities include a morning and evening walk hosted by Muscle Powered, a dinner fundraiser for the Roman family at Pizza Factory, a community dinner and meeting invite to the Order of Eastern Star, a showing at the BAC of the 1941 film classic "The Lady Eve" and a concert featuring the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus with violin soloist Elizabeth Pitcairn at Shepherd-Sierra Lutheran Church. The Memorial Day Flowers Foundation is hosting a Memorial Day Service today, noon to 2 p.m. at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City.

Among the order of service was a noon Raising of the Colors. The service will feature a presentation of the Colors by the Carson City Division of US Naval Sea Cadets, the National Anthem, Invocation. At around 1 p.m. there will be the introduction of speakers, U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, Sen. Jacky Rosen and U.S. Congressman Mark Amodei followed by A Memorial Day Tribute by the High Desert Post 56 All Veteran Honor Guard, closing remarks and a Benediction.

Carson City-based Mission Senior Living celebrated the groundbreaking of Mountain Lakes Estates Retirement Community, located off of South Meadows Parkway, just past Sprouts, in Reno. Upon completion in the spring of 2020, the 121,000 square-feet, four-story building will offer 130 apartment homes for active adults 55 and better.

Nevada delegation supports marijuana banking bill

The public town forum Monday evening at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall brought together political candidates to take questions from the audience and discuss their platforms.
