Nevada governor honors Veterans Day through proclamation, video message to Veterans

CARSON CITY — Today, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak issued a proclamation naming Wednesday, November 11th as Veterans Day in honor of our Veterans that have served in our nation’s military. State offices will be closed for this official holiday.

Evacuations lifted in Slink Fire south of Topaz, US 395 re-opens, Marine Corps assists

The Slink Fire behavior moderated Tuesday at 11,000 acres and hard work by firefighters has increased the containment to 10 percent. All evacuations in the towns of Walker and Coleville have been lifted and Highway 395 is now open to traffic, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

Obituary: Pioneering V&T Railroad steam train touring stalwart Robert C. Gray dies

Robert C. Gray, 97, of Orinda, California passed away peacefully at home April 3, 2019. Robert was born in Oakland, California to Harry E. Gray and Kathleen S. Carter on August 13, 1921.

Robert was kind, energetic and lived a full life. He was an advanced stamp collector and in 1935 he attended the first Boy Scout National Jamboree at Washington D.C.
