CHS partners with History Channel in ‘Take a Vet to School’ Carson City event
CARSON CITY — In partnership with the History Channel and Charter, Spectrum Communications, Carson High School will host a ‘Take a Vet to School’ event in the school’s library, Wednesday in honor of Veteran’s Day.
Carson High School’s Lieutenant Commander Dan Meyer (Navy), NJROTC instructor, will moderate a panel of local military veterans where more than 200 students will be educated on the five branches of the U.S. Military and the general mission of each branch. Veterans in the panel will discuss their primary roles in the military and brief stories before opening up the discussion for questions and answers.
The first class of 65-70 students will sit in on the panel discussion at 8 a.m. followed by a second class at 9:48 a.m. and a third class following lunch at 12:04 p.m.

Yette De Luca, work-based learning coordinator for the Carson City School District (Air Force)
Vicky Fogelman (Air Force)
Ben Stryffeler (Marines)
Ryan Gerchman (Marines)

Take a Veteran to School Day is HISTORY’s popular public affairs outreach program, connecting veterans from all walks of life with students in schools and communities nationwide. In 2018, schools in all 50 states are expected to participate. As part of this campaign, HISTORY offers participating schools curriculum-based educational materials at veterans.com as well as short videos and additional resources, all provided free-of-charge.
