The first Hot August Nights began on Aug. 1, 1986 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, and Virginia City brought a sense of nostalgia back to the historic mining town.

There's Flag Day ceremonies at the Nevada Veterans Memorial and at the Elks Lodge. The Stewart Father’s Day Powwow happens Friday to Sunday and features hundreds of American Indian dancers, drummers artists and cultural enthusiasts. Lace up the tennis shoes for the Eastside Historical tour of the capital city hosted by Muscle Powered. Journey of Hope returns to Western Nevada College at 5 p.m. to settle into the evening. Open Mic Night at A to Zen will cap-off an eventful Friday heading into the weekend.

We have comedian Travis Tate headlining the Carson Comedy Club Friday & Saturday. The doors open up at 7:15 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 each and available at the Winners Club inside the Carson Nugget or at www.ccnugget.com.
Following the show, we have Northern Nevada funk band, Soul Kiss, performing at The Loft inside the Carson Nugget. The party starts at 9 p.m.

They are raising money to send qualifying students to the National Speech and Debate competition in Dallas, TX, this June.
