Fish in Nevada without a license this Saturday

If you have been trying to figure out a way to get the kids off the computer and out of the house, then the Nevada Department of Wildlife has a plan, and here’s the best part: it’s free.

Nevada Free Fishing Day is Saturday, June 14. On Free Fishing Day anglers may fish in any public fishing water in the state without a fishing license or trout stamp. All limits and other regulations apply.

First ever Dayton Valley Lions Club Charity Texas Hold-Em Poker Tournament

The first ever Dayton Valley Lions Club Charity Texas Hold-Em Poker Tournament will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Dayton Valley Community Center, 170 Pike Street in Dayton.

The cost is $40 per seat with 200 seats available. Rebuys are $20. Signups start at noon with play beginning at 1 p.m. sharp.

A catered dinner will be provided at 6:00 p.m. The Grand Prize is a $1,000 gift certificate. A raffle and silent auction will also be offered. Join the fun and help the Lions Club raise money to help in their ongoing campaign against preventable blindness.

Carson City Host Lions 14th Annual Crab Feed

Carson City Host Lions presents our 14th Annual Crab Feed Charity Fundraiser on Friday, March 7, 2014.
Dinner includes all the crab you can eat, plus BBQ tri-tip, BBQ chicken, salad, garlic bread, and ice cream for dessert at the Fuji Park Events Building on Old Clear Creek Rd.

No host cocktails at 6:00 PM, dinner served at 7:00 PM and live band with dancing 8:00 PM until 10:00 PM.

Annual Tom Brooks Memorial Kid's Fishing Day Hosted by Carson City Host Lions Club

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Rural Housing Authority staff, along with its Board of Commissioners, are mourning the death of Commission member, Tom Cook. Cook died at Carson Tahoe Hospital, while surrounded by loving family, on April 25, 2013.

Carson City Host Lions sponsored Tom Brooks Memorial Fishing Day

A free fishing day sponsored by Carson City Host Lions Club and supported by several other organizations for local youngsters will be held at Baily Pond, Fuji Park. Saturday September 15 from 08:00 A.M. to 01:00 P.M. Free food and cold drinks, teeshirts, and raffle prizes will be available. There will be a fish cleaning station and an archery range. Local dignitaries will open the Tom Brooks Memorial Fishing Day at 08:00. Let's get the kids into the outdoors and teach them to fish. Children twelve years and older will need an NDOW fishing license.

Dayton Valley Lions Club Selling See's Candy

Thursday Dec. 9th to Friday Dec. 24th (until supplies last) at 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, the Dayton Valley Lions Club will be selling See's Candy in Smith's grocery store. The profits will be used to benefit the Dayton community and people who are in need of eye treatment. The Lions Club is hoping to sell enough See's Candy to assist everyone in having a happy holiday. If you would like to help, please donate now or purchase See's Candy from the Lions Club. A little goes a long way.

Kids Fishing Day at Carson City’s New Urban Fishing Pond

Carson City's newest recreation feature will be dedicated on Oct. 23, along with a Fishing Day, highlighting the opening of the one-acre Urban Fishing Pond.

The event, which runs from 7 a.m. to noon at the Carson City Fairgrounds at 601 Old Clear Creek Road, is free to the public. Sponsors include the Nevada Department of Wildlife, Carson City Host Lions Club, and the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department.
