As we head into the final Monday of 2019, we're looking at a slight chance of light snow in the morning as a weak weather system brushes the region. Events around the Carson City area include a driver's education class offered through Western Nevada College Continuing Education, a luncheon featuring Patricia Ackerman, a Democratic primary candidate for Nevada's 2nd Congressional District, art activities and more.

Come celebrate the new year with popular local band, The Lost Reverends of the High Sierra in the Cabaret in Casino Fandango, 3800 South Carson St., New Year’s Eve from 9:00PM until 1:00AM.

The Lost Reverends are well known for their fun and energetic shows, covering genres such as rock, blues, country and even a show tune or two. Front man and lead singer, Dougie L is also known to bust out some American Songbook classics from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and others.

Heading into Monday, it sure does feel like Christmas around the capital City. Events around the capital city Monday include a free yoga class offered through Partnership Carson City, the first day kickoff of a Holiday Gift Making Camp at the Brewery Arts Center, a Carson River Trails Project open house hosted by Parks, Recreation and Open Space, a Carson City Democratic luncheon featuring a Bernie Sanders campaign presentation, West Coast swing dancing at Carson Lanes and more.

In December, Mondays don't really seem like Monday. At least for those of us caught up in the holiday spirit of giving and kindness. What a weekend of community fellowship this was among Carson City locals and we're just getting started, counting down the days until Christmas.

With a weekend of Christmas holiday events across the Carson City region, it looks like Mother Nature will be active with valley rain beginning late Friday and feet of snow in the Sierra through Sunday.

Two storms systems, one Wednesday and the other to arrive late Friday, are forecast to bring valley rain and Sierra snow to the region, according to the National Weather Service.

With Thanksgiving leftovers winding down, we're winding up to the second day in December and the first day of the work week ahead, with activities lined up through the weekend. Sunshine ahead for Monday, Nov. 18 around the capital city before valley showers and light Sierra snow settles into the region late Tuesday. Activities and events the first day of the work week include a kindergarten open house at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School, a free yoga class offered through Partnership Carson City, a discussion with the capital city's new library director, art events and more.

After weeks of abundant sunshine and above-average fall temperatures, some change is ahead weather wise around the Carson City region, with a system expected to move into the region late Tuesday, bringing the potential for some valley rain showers and mountain snow, but not considered in any way a major winter storm, forecasters say.

Going into Monday, Nov. 11, 2019 it is Veterans Day. Federal, state and local government offices and schools are closed to observe the holiday. Thank you U.S. Veterans for your service to our great country. There are a number of organized happenings in the region, including parades in Virginia City and Reno, as well as events in South Lake Tahoe and Sparks. Plus a number of Carson City and Carson Valley restaurants are offering no cost meals as a gesture of gratitude to veterans and active duty military members. Also Monday is a discussion on homeless issues with local advocate and champion for those who are often without a voice, Dee Dee Foremaster.

A warmup is in the forecast this week as we head into Monday, Nov. 4, 2019. Expect sunny skies with daytime highs in the upper 60s. But you'll want to bundle up after the sun sets as night time temperatures will be in the low 30s. Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the second annual Evening with Divas in Carson City, a Día de Muertos celebration at the Nevada State Museum, Nevada Artists Association’s 40th anniversary celebration, paranormal ghost investigations in Virginia City, a pie baking contest in Gardnerville and much more!

The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Water Pollution Control has entered the public notice period for the issuance of an individual Nevada State groundwater discharge permit for High Sierra Cultivation, a marijuana grow operation in Carson City.

The public comment period will end Nov. 18, 2019.

With the wildly festive Nevada Day weekend now behind us, a busy week is ahead as we begin to close out October and prepare to celebrate Halloween in the capital city. Activities Monday include a lunch discussion with the director of the Toiyabe Chapter of the Sierra Club, art showings, West Coast swing dancing and more.

And we're off as we count down the days until Saturday's Nevada Day celebration, the biggest statewide party of its kind or any kind for that matter. Governor Kate Marshall, the second of a six-week standup comedy class, art showings, West Coast swing dancing and more.

California’s native Paiute cutthroat trout, the rarest trout in North America, swims once again in its high Sierra home waters for the first time in more than 100 years.
