A 46-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of second-time domestic battery after an argument over computer use, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

This first weekend of June packs quite a punch: activities and events abound. Head downtown for the first Third and Curry Farmers Market of the season, then wander a few blocks north for Due Sorella’s Spring Vintage Market. You may as well just keep the car parked. Eddy House Rummage Sale

There will be a Rummage Sale on Friday June 15 and Saturday, June 16 at Hunsberger Elementary School in Reno to benefit the Eddy House. Eddy House works with homeless and at-risk Reno youth to develop life and job skills necessary for sustainable independence.

This event is hosted by ArrowCreek Chef's Club and runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days.

Memorial Day weekend is often thought of as the kick-off to summer, but in Northern Nevada we know that the weather is a fickle creature. Recycle For Kids Day at Carson Mall parking lot

In honor of Earth Day, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada and ComputerCorps will be hosting a “Recycle for Kids” clothing and electronic recycling event on Saturday, April 28th in the Carson Mall parking lot from 9am to 1pm.

Proceeds from donations benefit mentoring for local at-risk children and electronics for children, the disabled, seniors and others in need.

UPDATE: A Flood Warning has been issued along the East and West Forks of the Carson River in Douglas County including the main stem of the Carson River from the confluence to the Cradlebaugh Bridge on Highway 395 in western Nevada. See the National Weather Service flood warning here.

A strong atmospheric river storm will impact the Carson City region, western Nevada and Sierra from Friday afternoon into Saturday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Watch for much of the area.

The weekend has arrived, and it will be an exceptionally long one for the schoolkids of Carson City: spring break begins Monday. There’s a rumor of snowfall for this weekend, but it’s not expected to be too heavy in the valley. Don’t quote me on that, though, I’ve been wrong before. Break a leg to the Douglas students performing in ‘Game of Tiaras’ this weekend; the show sounds hilarious, but be warned, it’s not for kids. For a family friendly outing, check out Story Time with Suzie at the Nevada Railroad Museum, or photos with the Easter Bunny at PetSmart.
