The million-selling band Rednex is in the line-up for the upcoming memorial event for Deputy Howell in Carson City on August 19. To complement their first visit to the US have they released a song and video dedicated to Deputy Howell, who was tragically killed in the line of duty in 2015.

Many of our readers have probably not heard of Warrick Dunn, former running back for Florida State University and the National Football League’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons.

Dunn had a great college career, winning a national championship with the Seminoles in 1993. He followed his college success with a very good twelve-year career in the NFL. Off Stephanie Lane, on Chaparral Court, is a spectacular display known as Nevada Christmas.

Walton’s Chapel of the Valley at 1281 N. Roop St. in Carson City is hosting a Remembrance and Candle Lighting Service on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 5:00 p.m. for anyone in the Northern Nevada community who has lost a loved one. The service will last about an hour and a half and everyone is welcome.

Dianne Harman Askew, 70, passed away peacefully on November 28 after a brave battle with interstitial lung disease, a rare autoimmune disorder.

Born in Detroit in 1946, Dianne was raised in El Paso, Texas. A Kappa Delta, she graduated from the University of Texas El Paso with a bachelor’s degree in business. Shortly afterward, a handsome and charming drill sergeant, Phillip “Mike” Askew, just returned from a tour of duty in Vietnam, swept her off her feet.

Constance Rowe ‘Grandma Connie’ passed away on Friday the 8th of July 2016 in the comforts of her cozy little apartment in Carson City at 97 years young.

Edward Arthur King, died May 24, 2016, at Carson Tahoe Medical Center from the effects of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was born Dec. 4, 1937, in Los Angeles to Marcus J. and Josephine H. King.

He served in the US Navy, and later worked handling bills of lading and routing for Lee Way Motor Freight in Downey, CA.

He married the former Alyce Devorraux McDonald on Dec. 4, 1975.

In 1985 the couple moved to Carson City, where he was employed as inventory manager for American Building Company. He retired from there in 2006.

On Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the age of 76, Beverly Tucker passed. She leaves behind one husband, three children, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild due in December among the truly huge family who she touched with her life, both blood and otherwise.

She had a long, hard final battle with many different ailments that, in the end, were too much for any one person.

It is difficult to ask for help. Sometimes parents need to ask their children for assistance in handling financial matters. One of the most important things is for the parents to do is the power of attorney for financial matters.

Funeral services will be held May 6 in Carson City for Ruth Aberasturi, a lifelong advocate for children with disabilities who served as director of special education with the Carson City School District for more than 30 years. She died April 20, 2016. Aberasturi was 85.
