Shoe Tree Brewing to celebrate first year with community anniversary party

A celebration is planned for June 16, 2018 starting at noon. There will be live bands, yard games, and a special release of Lapel DIPA in honor of the anniversary.

Supreme Court candidate Leon Aberasturi to be Dems luncheon speaker

A former Lyon County District Attorney, Aberasturi is a judge for Nevada's Third District Court in Yerington. He was first elected to the court in 2006, and was re-elected in 2014. He is running for the seat currently held by Justice Michael Cherry, who is termed out.

The families of Alexis Trujillo and Antonio Trujillo who attends Eagle Valley Middle School and Jordan and Theodore Leyva have been displaced following this incident.

Golden Dragons Lego Junior League team on its way to World Championships

The Golden Dragons team is made up of first and second grade students from Carson Montessori, and they will be the first junior league from Nevada to ever attend the World Championships.

Groups Rally Support for Dayton Food Pantry

Dayton Food Pantry manager Alie Trier said, “This Thanksgiving we were so grateful for the hundreds of turkeys and hams, side items, and checks donated by the community. Now we even have enough to provide more than 500 more familes with spiral hams for Christmas. Thank you awesome community members!”
Holiday Crawl draws hundreds, raises money for program giving Carson City kids a Christmas

The downtown Carson City event was attended by more than 400 people, up about 100 from last year, organizers say.

So, when she marked herself safe on Facebook from the mass shooting at the First Baptist Church, my heart dropped into my stomach. I called her and she relayed who she knew who had been shot. Eight people she knew died, five of them from the same family. Five more were injured. My heart rose to my throat.
