The U.S. Forest Service announced Wednesday that it is temporarily closing the remaining 10 national forests in California, including Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, Eldorado National Forest, Plumas National Forest and Tahoe National Forest.

Most of California remains under the threat of unprecedented and dangerous fire conditions with a combination of extreme heat, significant wind events, dry conditions, and firefighting resources that are stretched to the limit.

Due to these conditions, the USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region is announcing the following temporary closures and fire restrictions to provide for public safety and reduce the potential for human caused fire starts.

After a night washed out with a deep sepia haze resulting from the Creek Fire burning in the southern Sierra, the dense smoke that made its way into northern and western Nevada Saturday night that caused degraded air quality throughout the region now appears to be lifting, according to the National Weather Service.

I found photos last week of our landscape when we bought the house in 1988. There were trees lined up like soldiers along the borders of the property and lawn everywhere else. No flowers, no shrubs. To All Northern Nevada Residents, Effective July 1, 2020 NV Energy raised the fees for a customer disconnect/reconnect. From the original application, it is evident that these fees were increased in order to offset the $5 million dollar revenue decrease requested. Now, NV Energy seeks to fulfill an additional $120 million revenue decrease. While this reduction in revenue benefits residential customers in the short-term, the recent request continues to penalize Northern Nevadans from making needed repairs to their homes electrical systems.
