Artsy Fartsy Creative Center hosts instructor Colleen Reynolds for a 2-day Watercolor Workshop, Jul 28-29; 10AM-4PM each day. All Supplies Provided! Adult beginning to intermediate level painters welcome. $180 for 12 hours of instruction + supplies + lunch. The first day will be focused on learning about paint and paper with fun exercises and no pressure. The second day, students will paint 1 or 2 paintings. Students take home all creative efforts produced. Colleen Reynolds has a BA of Fine Art, an MS degree in Education and over 7 years of experience teaching watercolor.

On September 22, 23 and 24 we are offering 19 gourd classes for a hands-on learning experience. Gourds are a wonderful canvas for painting, wood burning, carving and weaving. Our experienced teachers will guide and teach students techniques used to work with the dyes, tools and of course gourds.

In and Around the Great Basin: Recent Plein Air Paintings from Erik Holland will be open to public viewing at the Rinckel Mansion throughout July.

The show opens with a reception to meet the artist Friday, July 7 (1–6 pm) and Saturday, July 8, (9 am - 6 pm). The show will hang through the end of July and be open to the public during business hours. This also affords an opportunity to see the beautifully restored Rinckel Mansion, one of Carson City's grand historic buildings.

Las Vegas artist’s photography on display at LXS Gallery

CARSON CITY, Nevada – Las Vegas artist Christopher Tsouras, a grandson of Greek immigrants, has a longtime fascination with pre-classical Greek mythology.

That fascination, along with his deep interest in modern astronomy, are at the heart of Tsouras’ photography and mixed media exhibit that goes on display at the Nevada Arts Council’s LXS Gallery beginning Monday, Feb. 27.

The Resident Artist Program in Silver City Welcomes Frances Melhop

She'll set up a temporary studio at the Silver City School House during August 2016, photographing some of the Comstock’s longtime residents for a 2017 exhibition at the Haldan Art Gallery at Tahoe.

Painting is my passion. Both the gothic shapes of the Eastern Sierra and the endless horizon of the Nevada High Desert inspire and inform my work.

My paintings are the result of a synesthetic dialog with the landscape. I cannot help but hear the colors of the high desert in the mid-summer sun, smell the grandeur of the Sierra peaks rising above the alpine autumn twilight, and touch the expanse of vast, open spaces on a cold, winter evening.

Folk musicians Paula Frazer, Jacob Aranda, and David Cuetter will perform. In addition, the exhibit will include the best work from students in the Reno High School Advanced Art class. Kelsey Rolling, Emily Jiang, and Tyler Hart are students of Lauren Gandolfo.

Capital City Circles Initiative hosts jewelry and fine art fundraiser Saturday

UPDATE: Help out a Carson City area nonprofit built on giving families a hand up and find some great bargains on fine jewelry and stones, clothing, art and more at a fundraiser this Saturday, June 14, at Thunder Canyon Country Club in Washoe Valley.

The Capital City Circles Initiatives will host "Gem of a Fundraiser" from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The Capital City Circles Initiative is a nonprofit community-based program that assists families living in poverty to achieve their goal of self-sufficiency through education, support networking and friendships with members in the community.
