The recently refurbished Nevada Artists Association Gallery at 449 West King Street, in Carson City, will feature the remarkable work of Verdi digital artist and photographer Catherine King, now through Feb. 16.

Ralph Waldo Emerson asserted, “Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art.” Art students from Pioneer High School had an opportunity to survey some of these creations of beauty during a recent field trip.

With Thanksgiving just days away, the holiday season is just around the corner. The annual Holiday Craft Fair at Carson High features a plethora of handmade and locally crafted gifts for the loved ones on your shopping list. Take the plunge at the Carson Aquatic Center if you want to get a picture with Scuba Santa. Grab a coat, some friends, and your ID and head downtown for this month’s beer crawl. $15 gets you a glass and your first beer, from there you’ll pay only $1 for refills at several watering holes. The November Artist of the Month at Carson City Art Gallery is fine art photographer Bruce Titus whose work has been featured in a number of Reno and Lake Tahoe area art galleries and shows over the years. There will be an artist’s reception at Carson City Art Gallery on Friday, Nov. 3 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, October 18, the Capital City Arts Initiative [CCAI] will present a talk by curator Michele Quinn. Her illustrated talk, "Vegas Culture on the Rise", is part of CCAI’s ongoing Nevada Neighbors series and will take place at 7pm at the Community Development building [the Brick], 108 E Proctor St, Carson City. There will be an informal reception for Quinn preceding the event at 6:15pm. The presentation and reception are free, and the public is cordially invited.

Artsy Fartsy Creative Center hosts instructor Colleen Reynolds for a 2-day Watercolor Workshop, Jul 28-29; 10AM-4PM each day. All Supplies Provided! Adult beginning to intermediate level painters welcome. $180 for 12 hours of instruction + supplies + lunch. The first day will be focused on learning about paint and paper with fun exercises and no pressure. The second day, students will paint 1 or 2 paintings. Students take home all creative efforts produced. Colleen Reynolds has a BA of Fine Art, an MS degree in Education and over 7 years of experience teaching watercolor.

On September 22, 23 and 24 we are offering 19 gourd classes for a hands-on learning experience. Gourds are a wonderful canvas for painting, wood burning, carving and weaving. Our experienced teachers will guide and teach students techniques used to work with the dyes, tools and of course gourds.

In and Around the Great Basin: Recent Plein Air Paintings from Erik Holland will be open to public viewing at the Rinckel Mansion throughout July.

The show opens with a reception to meet the artist Friday, July 7 (1–6 pm) and Saturday, July 8, (9 am - 6 pm). The show will hang through the end of July and be open to the public during business hours. This also affords an opportunity to see the beautifully restored Rinckel Mansion, one of Carson City's grand historic buildings.

The Nevada Artists Association opens its "Sprit of America" art exhibit that will be on display now through August 4. The NAA's gallery is located at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center.

SILVER CITY, Nev. — Since 2014, Silver City Arts group has hosted music, visual arts, and poetry events and programs. The group draws on the community's own rich resource of artists, artisans and musicians, and also connects with regional and statewide groups to bring programming by national and international artists and musicians. The group of volunteers’ mission is "to encourage the arts, build community, and share our unique town through free, public events." Below are a few highlights.

CARSON CITY, Nevada – Las Vegas artist Christopher Tsouras, a grandson of Greek immigrants, has a longtime fascination with pre-classical Greek mythology.

That fascination, along with his deep interest in modern astronomy, are at the heart of Tsouras’ photography and mixed media exhibit that goes on display at the Nevada Arts Council’s LXS Gallery beginning Monday, Feb. 27.

The Nevada Press Association is hosting "Iconic Nevada: Plein Air Paintings from around the State", a show and sale of works by Erik Holland. The show opens Saturday February 4, (1–6 pm) for the monthly Carson City wine walk. A special reception will be held the evening of Wednesday, February 8 (4–8 pm) to welcome the Nevada legislators to the 2017 session.

More than thirty artists from Northern Nevada including Reno, Carson City and Sparks — several nationally known-— will be featured at the 22th annual Reno Artisan Show and Sale Nov. 4 and 5 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Admission is free and 25 pieces of original art will be given away.

Body-painter extraordinaire, Lynzie Ruckuer, teams up with DJ Brunch Dizzle for an American Horror Story themed party at Remedy’s.

Silver City, Nevada - Narrative, story-telling visual artist Frances Melhop, voted “One of the World's 200 Best Advertising Photographers 2009/2010″ by Luerzers Archive, will bring her skills and talents to the Resident Artist Program in Silver City this summer. She'll set up a temporary studio at the Silver City School House during August 2016, photographing some of the Comstock’s longtime residents for a 2017 exhibition at the Haldan Art Gallery at Tahoe.

Painting is my passion. Both the gothic shapes of the Eastern Sierra and the endless horizon of the Nevada High Desert inspire and inform my work.

My paintings are the result of a synesthetic dialog with the landscape. I cannot help but hear the colors of the high desert in the mid-summer sun, smell the grandeur of the Sierra peaks rising above the alpine autumn twilight, and touch the expanse of vast, open spaces on a cold, winter evening.

The Nevada Day Store and Trading Post features many fine art Photographers and this Saturday we are showcasing some of “The Shadow and Light Photographers” beautiful work.

This group was started by Fine Art Photographer, Dennis Doyle on Facebook. It is giving photographers of every level a place where all can share their work and learn from one another. They post and share and when asked, constructive criticism is also given and appreciated.

This special holiday art show on Friday and Saturday from 1-6 p.m. will be at the beautiful and historic 1862 David Walley's Hot Springs Resort & Spa. The Capital City Arts Initiative [CCAI] announces its exhibition, "Tow'ring High", by artist Deon Reynolds at the Carson City Community Center's Sierra Room from July 8 – November 10, 2015. Community Center is located at 851 E. William Street, Carson City. The show's title comes from the state song, "Home Means Nevada."

Thunderstorms are on the horizon, so seize the day and enjoy the sunshine while it’s here. Muscle Powered has organized a monthly trash mob to help keep our trails clean, join them at US Bank to help out. The Ghost Walk returns: meet behind the Firkin and Fox for some local haunted history. Teens will enjoy a ‘Night at the Library’ with pizza and games. 'Tis the Season, Carson City! Holiday cheer is in the wind, and we have plenty of wind right now. This weekend is jam-packed with food and toy drives, concerts, and Santa-sightings, so bundle up and have a fun time enjoying our great city.

St. Marys Arts and Retreat Center in Virginia City will host a reception for its art show “a winter tonic” on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014 from 1 to 4 p.m. The reception will feature the work of Danish artist Nes Lerpa, Megan Berner, Jessica White and Dusty Roads artists.

Folk musicians Paula Frazer, Jacob Aranda, and David Cuetter will perform. In addition, the exhibit will include the best work from students in the Reno High School Advanced Art class. Kelsey Rolling, Emily Jiang, and Tyler Hart are students of Lauren Gandolfo.

Silver City is located on the way to Virginia City on State Route 342, and the Silver City Schoolhouse can be found at 385 High St.

The Capital City Circles Initiatives will host "Gem of a Fundraiser" from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The Capital City Circles Initiative is a nonprofit community-based program that assists families living in poverty to achieve their goal of self-sufficiency through education, support networking and friendships with members in the community.
