Partnership Carson City opioid documentary distributed across Nevada

CARSON CITY — A new video being distributed across the state is aimed at sparking a larger discussion about opioid addiction and ways to combat it.

“It’s such a big epidemic in Nevada,” said Sam Szoyka, training specialist for Partnership Carson City. “But, at the same time, no one is really talking about it.”

UPDATE: Missing Carson City elderly woman found safe after spending night outside

UPDATE: 7:24 AM: Carson City Sheriff's Office SAR reports the missing elderly woman has been located. She is safe and will be evaluated by Carson City Fire Department. She was found, outside, north of the Carson Plaza Senior Independent Living residence off of East Long Street.

Carson City Sheriff's Office and Search and Rescue have issued a Silver Alert for a missing 89-year-old woman who suffers from dementia and was last seen Monday afternoon.

Volunteers 55 and older are provided meaningful opportunities to draw on their lifetime of experience to serve their communities in a variety of settings.

Carson City Kiwanis moved its weekly meeting to The Martin Hotel. The decision to move was not a difficult one as The Martin Inn has an excellent meeting facility located in the back of its restaurant.

Carson City Kiwanis members are excited about the move as the room is large enough to grow, invite guests, and be able to stay in downtown Carson City. As Carson City Kiwanis celebrates its 60-year anniversary, it looks to continue to be a great service club in this great community.

Elderly couple dead in double homicide, investigators say similarities to Douglas murders

UPDATE: 1/18/19 at 3:15PM: According to a story in the Reno Gazette Journal today, the elderly couple found dead in their South Reno home Wednesday have been identified by friends as Jerry and Sherri David. Jerry David was a former president of the Reno Rodeo Association.
The identities of the elderly couple still have not been released by the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, which is leading the investigation into their deaths that have been ruled homicides.
