An elderly man and woman died as a result of homicide at their south Reno residence after their bodies were discovered Wednesday, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office confirmed during a press conference.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference Thursday afternoon regarding the homicides in Reno and their possible connection to two murders in Douglas County. Also attending the press conference were Douglas County Sheriff Dan Coverley and Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed an elderly man and an elderly woman were killed in their residence in the La Guardia area in South Reno.

There was no forced entry in the Douglas County cases, however it is too soon to tell if the Reno scene was similar as it is stil being processed.

The names of the two Reno victims have not been released. It was confirmed during the press conference that the Douglas County murders were the result of a firearm.

The cause of death in the Reno case, other than being deemed a homicide, has not been released.

Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam would not confirm the cases were related.

“There are similarities between the cases, but it’s too early to make a connection between this case and the Douglas County cases,” said Balaam during the press conference.

The following is a news release from the Thursday press conference. You can also watch the press conference on the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Facebook page here.
