Nevada Health Centers is a state-wide organization that provides medical and dental care to over 50,000 low-income, uninsured, underinsured and geographically isolated residents of Nevada. It is the largest community health center in Nevada, with locations in seven different Nevada counties.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak issued a proclamation on Wednesday to formally name racism as a public health crisis. Sheriff Coverley submitted a written letter for public comment in opposition of the statement.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — The Stewart Indian School Cultural Center & Museum will reopen to the public on Monday, July 20, thanks to a generous donation from the family of a former Stewart Indian School principal. Opened in January and closed to the public in March because of the current health crisis, the Cultural Center faced severe budget cuts.

The Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum received approval of a grant from the Western States Arts Federation CARES Act Fund in the amount of $20,000.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Arts Council has issued $392,250 in federal funds to 79 arts organizations through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Grant amounts ranged from $1,000 to $10,000, based on each group’s total annual revenue.

Coin Press No. 1, which stamped coins at the Carson City Mint from 1870 to 1893, will operate from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 4 at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City. CARSON CITY — Carson High School Career and Technical Education, Future Health Professionals students, also known as HOSA, competed in the 2020 Virtual Nevada State Leadership Conference hosted April 15 through May 8. More than 1,000 students from across the state of Nevada competed in more than 40 medical competition events.

MASON VALLEY — The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection says work to revitalize and restore the former Anaconda Copper Mine site continues to progress on schedule. The first phase of the project began in August 2019, and all necessary construction work at the site is on track to be complete by 2029.
