This year, Leadership class has determined the theme will be Winterflix, a play on the popular Netflix streaming service that allows customers to watch a wide variety of award-winning TV shows, movies, documentaries, and more on thousands of internet-connected devices.
Nevada students improve Advanced Placement exam proficiency

“Research shows that students who pass the AP Exam with a 3 or higher not only demonstrate that they are ready for freshman college classes, but that they are also more likely to graduate college in four years,” said Steve Canavero, Ph.D., Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Carson City Chamber offers three hospitality, tourism scholarships

The Carson City School District announced that all schools will be closed today, Friday, due to heavy snow. Western Nevada College's Carson City campus, including the Child Development Center, will be closed today due to weather.
Fallon and Douglas campuses remain open.

High School juniors and seniors living in Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, Storey and Washoe counties can earn college credits at no cost through Nevada State High School, while they finish high school. They may also receive support with textbooks, transportation, and class expenses.

Ibarra participated in two years of auto technician courses and two years in auto body courses. Gershel experimented in a variety of CTE courses including culinary, web design and welding.

From the grades being earned to the opportunities being afforded, high school juniors and seniors from 11 high schools are about to finish the first year of the Jump Start partnership by succeeding at a high rate.
Western Nevada College rural campuses help boost enrollment
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 09/11/2013 - 5:18pmEnrollment at both rural campuses of Western Nevada College has increased this fall, after six years of state budget cuts that drastically reduced programs and available classes.
Full-time equivalent enrollment, which measures the number of credits a student takes and is a key factor in determining state funding levels, rose 4 percent at the Fallon campus to 415 and 3 percent at the Douglas campus to 371. At the Carson City campus, full-time equivalent headcount rose by 2 percent, indicating that individual students are enrolling in more credits.

Davis Observatory.
