Homecoming Week is a fun-filled time at CHS with a frenzy of activities and celebrations to honor the high school and its students.

Hop and Mae Adams Foundation to collect donations for Carson City charities at Nevada Day

The Hop and Mae Adam’s Foundation will temporarily donate several of its downtown Carson City parking lots to help charities raise money over the Nevada Day weekend. The charities will be collecting $5 donations for vehicle parking on Nevada Day in parking lots owned and maintained by the Foundation.

Senator Square: Carson High School teacher raises money for breast cancer awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this time every year touches the heart of one of the teachers at CHS: Art teacher Mike Malley, whose mother is a breast cancer survivor, due to early detection, has decided to take breast cancer awareness to a new level by putting on a fundraising event Oct. 18 at the Trimmer Barn from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada’s annual Luau raised 18 percent of the Club’s annual operating budget for the year, the highest amount in the event’s 25-year history. BGCWN operates five sites in Carson City and the Carson Valley, serving more than 2,600 children, with an operating budget of $2 million.

A tradition that began decades ago at CHS has seniors jumping out of bed still wearing their pajamas, grabbing their blankets, and heading off to the CHS football field to arrive by 6 a.m.
