Is it the policy of the Nevada Appeal to print demonstrably false attacks on the editorial page? I'm referring to the letter to the editor on June 25 that claims, "There is incontrovertible proof that an ineligible usurper sits in the White House."

NHP: 10-year-old boy dies in SUV rollover

A 10-year-old boy died from injuries sustained in a single vehicle rollover accident on Thursday eight miles south of Carson CIty in Douglas County, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports. The boy and the driver of the SUV were taken by Care Flight where the child later died of his injuries at a Reno hospital.

The boy, Felix Vargas, was in the SUV with seven others when it rolled over, with the boy being thrown from the vehicle, said NHP Trooper Dan Lopez.

Five safe after Carson River mishap

Carson City Fire Department and rescue teams plucked a man and a woman from a log in the middle of the Carson River at Riverview Park in Carson City this afternoon.

The pair had apparently become stuck when their raft hit barbed wire, according to fire personnel on the scene. A second raft with a family of three, including a small child, capsized as it attempted to rescue the two in the water, said Carson City Assistant Fire Chief Tom Tarulli. The mother and child swam to shore and a man was rescued further down the shore, Tarulli said.
