Carson City's Project Empty Bowls features hot soups, holiday entertainment, auction and more
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 12/06/2018 - 11:48amIn its sixth year, Carson City has fought hunger during the holidays in a very unique way by serving delicious hot soups prepared by local restaurants that are dished up in ceramic bowls made by the hands of people in the community.
This Friday, the all-you-can-eat fundraiser returns, this time at the Carson Mall, with an array of holiday entertainment, an auction, raffle and more to go along with delicious, savory and soothing hot soup delights.
The event runs from 4 to 8 p.m. inside the Carson Mall's north entrance.

The Passing of the Baton - Capital City Community Band free concert on Nevada Day Oct. 27th

The Capital City Community Band will present its annual Nevada Day free concert at 2:00P.M. on Saturday, October 27th in the Capital Amphitheater.
The concert will feature variety of music from Dixieland to Marches to Patriotic songs. A special feature will be “Home Means Nevada” by Marine Band arranger Sgt. Scott Ninmer.
The arrangement will feature Doug Thunder, a forty-one-year member of the band, on Euphonium.
Carson City schools earn EPA Energy Star certifications

The pledge was to "Acknowledge, Care and Tell." Acknowledge the feelings of others, tell them you care, and tell an adult.

Mary Rose “Mosey” Vargas Covington

Born in Auburn, California in November of 1942, Mosey grew up on a Sierra foothills ranch in Placer County and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960. She came to the eastern Sierra Nevada in 1965 where she taught two generations of children and raised her own family.
