USAF Band tickets for March 4 show sold out

Tickets for the USAF Band performance in Carson City on March 4 have sold out, said Chamber of Commerce Director Ronni Hannaman.

A line formed outside the Carson City Chamber of Commerce at around 7:30 a.m. for the free tickets to the USAF Concert Band that will play in Carson City March 4.

Free Job Fair at Community Center

Carson City Health and Human Services is pleased to partner with the Carson City Chamber of Commerce to provide another free job fair in on Friday, February 27th 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the Community Center. The job fair will offer an early 1:30 PM admission for all veterans!

All job seekers should bring an updated resume and dress to impress! Workshops for interview preparation and resume development are available at Carson City Health and Human Services every Wednesday from 2:00 - 4:00 PM.

Carson City Chamber unveils eagle art Saturday at grand opening of Artisan Showcase

The Carson City Chamber will be holding a grand opening and open house Saturday, Jan. 31 to unveil its new Artisan Showcase beginning at 2 pm within the Chamber building at 1900 S. Carson Street.

The works of talented artists from within the region will be showcased along with metal artisan Robbie St Clair who created a special grand opening sculpture for the Carson City Chamber — the Eagle that stands guard over our Eagle Valley seen along the I-580 corridor when entering or leaving our city from the North.

Carson City Job Fair at the Community Center Feb. 27

Carson City Health and Human Services and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce are teaming up again to present a Job Fair at the Community Center Gymnasium on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 from 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Veterans will be granted early admission at 1:30 p.m.

Job Seekers will have access to over 40 employers. Employers attending the Job Fair represent: Manufacturing, Retail, Gaming, Staffing Agencies, Utilities Companies, Home Health, Security and more. Bring an updated résumé, dress to impress, and be prepared to fill out applications.

USAF Band of Washington, D.C. to perform in Carson City

Artisan Showcase at Carson City Chamber now open

When the Carson City Chamber purchased the share of the building previously occupied by the visitors bureau, they found themselves with extra space that once housed the visitor center and gift shop operated by the bureau.

What to do with that extra space was the question. Since that vacant space was always operated as a gift shop, the Chamber decided to operate an artisan shop to showcase local talented artists and provide them with yet another outlet to sell their unique art.

Christmas season kicks off Dec. 5 with Carson City hometown celebration

The Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights will officially kick off Friday evening, Dec. 5 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the steps of the State Capitol in Carson City.

Now in its 25th year, the annual event is sponsored by the Carson City Redevelopment Authority as part of their efforts to showcase the downtown core and to bring families together to enjoy the advent of the holiday season.

Silver and Snowflake art contest winners announced

Seventy-five budding artists from kindergarten through grade 12 entered their art work into an annual contest recently as part of Carson City's annual Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights.

Each year, the teen board of the Carson City Library chooses a theme to coincide with the Christmas holidays. This year’s theme was “A Novel Christmas,” asking children to draw what Christmas would look like in their favorite novels.

Carson City Chamber: Pete Livermore was fearless leader, tireless advocate for youth

A good friend of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce passed away Monday of a heart attack. Pete Livermore was a community icon and did much for the community we know today. He was the “father of youth sports” and worked diligently to make certain the children of Carson City played on the best fields money could buy.

Longtime Carson City businessman, elected leader Pete Livermore dies

Pete Livermore, a longtime Carson City elected leader and business owner, died Monday at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. He was 73.

Livermore was a Nevada Assemblyman who decided this year that he would not seek re-election. He began in the Assembly District 40 on Feb. 7 2011. Before that, Livermore was a member of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, 1998-2010; was Mayor pro Tem, Carson City, 2004-2006.

Carson City's unemployment declines slightly in August; job fair set for Sept. 26

Carson City's unemployment rate fell slightly to 7.5 percent in August along with Nevada's overall unemployment rate which also dipped to 7.6 percent, the lowest since August 2008 and down 2.2 points from a year ago, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reports Friday.

Carson City Chamber and Visitors Bureau have new homes

As of 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, the Carson City Chamber of Commerce has officially purchased the Visitors Bureau share of the building both agencies jointly inhabited since 1989. The Visitors Bureau is now leasing space in the downtown core at the corner of Carson and Washington Street at 716 N. Carson Street.

The Chamber will remain at 1900 S. Carson Street and will occupy the space vacated by the Bureau after extensive remodeling. Both agencies will have official open houses in the near future.

Chamber, NV Energy partner for Sept. 10 free energy workshop luncheon

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce and NV Energy's Sure Bet Program have partnered for a Wednesday, Sept. 10 energy savings workshop and free luncheon at the Carson Plaza.

The workshop is designed to help business owners and managers learn how to assess their energy needs and help customers determine where improvements can be made. It runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
