Free multi-cultural Fall celebration Sunday at Fuji Park in Carson City

The annual Basque Festival at Fuji Park is evolving this year to become a multi-cultural celebration this Sunday, Sept. 15, that includes Basque, Italian, Mexican and Nevada barbecue cuisine.

Dubbed the “Fall Festival,” this family-friendly event offers a “Kid Zone” with 5 bounce houses, arts and crafts tables, a Home Depot build project, various games, kid karaoke, caricatures, face painting and a balloon artist. Adults can enjoy live music and dancing as well as Bingo in the Pavilion with various prize levels available.

Alumni to be honored at Stewart Father's Day Powwow

Former students of the historic Stewart Indian School will be honored at a special recognition ceremony as part of the 2013 Stewart Father’s Day Powwow in Carson City June 14-16.

Hosted in partnership with the Nevada Indian Commission and the Stewart Alumni, the annual powwow includes quality Native American arts and crafts vendors and is also a time for alumni, former employees, families and friends to gather at the former campus.

The annual Father's Day Powwow at Stewart Indian School draws a number of quality American Indian arts and crafts vendors, and is also a time for alumni, former employees and their families and friends to gather at the former campus at 5500 Snyder Avenue in Carson City.

Clifford's Birthday Party at the Children's Museum

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada is hosting a birthday party for Clifford, the big red dog. Clifford will be visiting the museum from 12-1pm. Come create Clifford themed arts and crafts. Carson Colony to feature weekend Nevada Day Pow Wow

This Nevada Day Carson Colony will host the annual La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow. This event begins on Friday at 5 p.m. Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at noon. The Pow Wow is free and open to the public. There will be arts and crafts, food vendors and Native American dancing and singing. The Carson Colony is located in Carson City, 2900 S. Curry Street.

Wa She Shu It Deh arts festival at Tallac Historic Site

The Wa She Shu It Deh arts festival at Tallac Historic Site in South Lake Tahoe will be on July 23-24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. The Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California offers this festival that includes a basket-weaving competition, native dancers, music and arts and crafts.

The Dayton Valley Dog Park Celebrates Grand Opening July 9th

The Dayton Valley Dog Park is set to celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, July 9. The grand-opening ceremony begins at 10 am and concludes at 3:30 pm. There will be great food, arts and crafts, music, and dog resources. Everyone is welcome to attend!! Dayton Valley Days this weekend

Music, parades, and plenty of fun are in store as the 22nd Dayton Valley Days kicks of Saturday and Sunday.

The two-day event features more than 100 food, music, arts and crafts booths, plus historical demonstrations and many other attractions.

Festivities will be at Old Town Dayton. A pancake breakfast by the Kiwanis Club begins at 7 a.m. both days. Festivities run from 9 a.m. to dusk on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Nevada State Museum in Carson City hosts Powwow traditions exhibit

Celebrating Nevada's rich American Indian culture is a new exhibit at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City called "What Continues the Dream: Contemporary Arts and Crafts from the Powwow Tradition."
This colorful exhibit, featured now through Aug. 7, was developed by the Folklife Program of the Nevada Arts Council and presents art and crafts that capture the vibrant spirit of the contemporary powwow, Nevada-style.

Nevada State Museum staff designs grand prize for Carson City Mint Coin Show

WIth the 150th anniversary of the Pony Express this year, the Nevada State Museum staff designed a unique raffle prize to celebrate this year’s Carson City Mint Coin Show.

Raffle tickets are now on sale for the grand prize, a precious 20-ounce silver bar embedded with two one ounce .999 fine 150th Anniversary Pony Express medallions. Fabricated at Northwest Territorial Mint/Medallic Art and sponsored by John Etten of Heritage Collectibles, this unique, one-of-a-kind prize is valued at $1,500. The coin show is Aug. 27-28.

Prepare yourself for a living history weekend at the 27th annual Carson City Rendezvous, June 11-13, at Mills Park in Carson City. This year's Rendezvous features a salute to the Pony Express, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.
