First, polls say half of America’s millennials would rather live under socialism or communism than capitalism.
Second, the reality of communism was, horrifically, exactly the opposite of the naïve view held by today’s young and by many people around the world in the last century.
Third, the essential faults and failures of communism also characterize all government to some degree, especially democratic socialism, progressivism and statist liberalism.

The weekend also features early afternoon shows specifically for families and children, an open mic storytelling concert and a storytelling group Carson Valley Memories led by Nancy Raven.

“You can’t control the cards you’re given, and you can’t hand them back in,” he told Eagle Valley Middle School students Monday afternoon. “Sometimes people look at their cards and think, ‘This is a horrible hand, there’s no way I can win.’ But there are always people who can take a terrible deck of cards and come away winning.”

While it is not on the noxious weed list (listed as noxious by law) for Nevada or California, Nevada plant ecologists consider it potentially invasive in the Las Vegas area and the California Invasive Plant Council has categorized it as a “high” threat to the state’s wildlands.

Carson City scout project to collect bicycles for Africa ends Sunday at Walmart

The drive, which began Sept. 25, is Bowler's Eagle Scout project. Thus far, 65 bikes have been collected. The goal is 100.

Battle Born Harley on Research Way offers a huge party without ever leaving the valley. Those two events are hardly all that Carson City and our neighboring counties have to offer, however. Born on March 14, 1930 in Bolckow, MO, Drusilla spent her life in California, Nevada and Virginia. A beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, she had an unwavering and steadfast devotion to her family and to the Lord. Drusilla’s belief in goodness, her sense of optimism, and her belief that everything would be all right was an inspiration to all who knew her.
