Carson City Sheriff's Office holiday driving reminder: Slow down and take your time
Winter weather can cause more issues than we can sometimes bear. Wet and icy roadways combined with our need to get from point A to point B as quickly as we can, often times leads to vehicle crashes.
With the holidays now in full swing it seems that everyone is in a hurry to get from one place or another and with road conditions changing, this is a good time to concentrate more on our driving and less on that holiday party you’re running late for or those last minute gifts you need to buy.
Speeding is one of the leading causes of car crashes. Combine this with slick and icy roadways and you are increasing your chances of crashing. Slow down and take your time. Your family and friends are counting on you to join them in celebrating the season so, do all that you can to arrive safely.
Slowing down may increase your time in getting from place to place but, not by much. The seconds you save can make the difference between enjoying the holidays with your family or spending them in the hospital or worse yet, not surviving to the New Year.
