Carson City Supervisors seek applicants for seats opening on local commissions, committees
The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from local community members to serve voluntarily on a number of local commissions and committees. Seats are open on the Parks and Recreation Commission, the Cultural Commission, Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee and 9-1-1 Surcharge Advisory Committee.

PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from persons interested in serving on the Carson City Parks and Recreation Commission. The purpose of the Parks and Recreation Commission is to advise the Board of Supervisors on the use of city parks and protect the right of all Carson City residents to enjoy the parks system.
There are three (3) openings for terms that will expire in January 2026.
Applicants should be aware that a minimum commitment of up to 10 hours a month is expected. The Commission meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 5:30 pm.
The Board of Supervisors will interview and appoint the qualified person to the Commission. Applicants must be Carson City registered voters to qualify. All members will serve without compensation. Applications will be accepted until January 5, 2022. Interviews for this volunteer position are tentatively planned to be held at the regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday, January 20, 2022.
CARSON CITY CULTURAL COMMISSION
The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from individuals who may be interested in serving on the Carson City Cultural Commission. The purpose of the Carson City Cultural Commission is to serve as the official advisor to the Carson City Board of Supervisors on matters related to the cultural life of the community. There are three (3) open positions each to fill terms that expire January 2025.
— Citizen-at-Large: The requirements are: (1) Be residents of Carson City; (2) Have a broad and informed perspective of the arts along with a demonstrated knowledge and responsiveness to the existing arts community and community at large; (3) Represent a cross section of the city's age, multi-cultural, socio- economic, professional, artistic and volunteer diversity; and (4) Have an appreciation for Carson City's rich cultural tradition.
Youth Representatives (18-25 years old; College students; or, Young Arts Advocates/Ambassadors), Arts Professionals (Employment in a Commercial or Non-profit arts Organization), and Business Professionals (Non-arts Business Owner or Staff) are encouraged to apply.
The Commission meetings are held at least quarterly, lasting approximately 2-3 hours. Additional time may be spent on special projects and sub-committee work. Applicants should be prepared for a minimum commitment of up to ten hours a month.

REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY CITIZENS COMMITTEE
The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from persons interested in serving on the Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee. There is one (1) open position: One (1) Business or Property Owner Redevelopment Area 1.
— Business/Property Owner Redevelopment Area 1 is for term that will expire January 2025. The Committee’s primary purpose is to make recommendations to the Redevelopment Authority on Redevelopment Area Plans, incentive programs, special event funding, and other matters pertaining to the Redevelopment District. Applicants should be aware that a minimum commitment of up to ten hours a month is expected. All members will serve without compensation.
Applicants must be Carson City registered voters.

9-1-1 Surcharge Advisory Committee
The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from individuals who may be interested in serving on the 9-1-1 Surcharge Advisory Committee.
There are two (2) open positions, one to fill a partial term ending in December 2022, and one for a full-term ending December 2023.
— Partial Term – Citizen at Large; must be a resident of Carson City and possess knowledge concerning telephone systems for reporting emergencies.
— Full Term – Local Exchange Carrier; must be a representative of an incumbent local exchange carrier which provides service to persons in Carson City.
The purpose of the 9-1-1 Surcharge Advisory Committee is to serve as the official advisor to the Carson City Board of Supervisors in developing a 5-year master plan for the enhancement or improvement of the telephone system for reporting an emergency in Carson City and to oversee any money allocated for that purpose.
The Committee meetings are held at least quarterly. Applicants should be prepared for a minimum commitment of less than 2 hours a month. The positions shall serve without compensation.
