Column: Do your travel plans for Thanksgiving include a safety review?
Thanksgiving Day will soon be here and many of you will be traveling the roadways outside of Carson City to join family and friends in celebration. This is a good time to be thinking about driving and arriving safely to your destination.
Are you and your children buckled in? Are the child safety seats and booster seats installed properly?
Should you be traveling a distance, do you have emergency provisions; a blanket, water, food, flares, etc. Does your family know the route you will be taking and the times you plan on leaving and arriving? Have you checked weather and road conditions?
If you are going to be drinking alcoholic beverages, do you have a designated driver, a taxi or have you made arrangements to spend the night? This is the beginning of the holiday season and with it comes overindulgence. Not just in the food but in the drinks as well.
Enjoy this season even more by planning ahead and choosing not to drink and drive. Your one life touches many more. Think about it and make the right decision.
The employees, volunteers and auxiliary units of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office would like to wish you and yours a happy and safe Thanksgiving Day.
