Fatal crash that caused explosion near Fallon shuts down Highway 50
UPDATE 3:54PM: All travel lanes of US-50 westbound are open. One lane of eastbound traffic remains closed. NHP advises to Slow down and watch out for emergency crews still on scene.

Nevada Highway Patrol reports one person died and another suffering life threatening injuries in a crash that happened Tuesday morning on U.S. 50 and Sheckler west of Fallon, shutting down the highway.
NHP reports a vehicle struck a gas main causing an explosion. The accident was reported to NHP at 7:37 a.m.
Power lines are down creating an outage for the area. US-50 is closed in both directions, between Leadville and Soda Lake Road. It is expected to remain closed until 6 p.m. NHP advises people to stay out of the area.
The power outage is affecting 2,550 NV Energy customers.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
